The additional materials, including the Equations Sets, math games, and manipulatives, have given students more opportunities to actively participate in their learning rather than simply completing worksheets or listening to instruction.\r\n\r\nI have seen increased participation as students work together to solve problems, play math games, and use concrete materials to make sense of challenging concepts. The games have created a fun, low-stakes environment where students are willing to take risks, try different strategies, and learn from mistakes. Students are excited to play, but they are also practicing important foundational math skills without always realizing how much mathematics they are doing.\r\n\r\nThe materials have also increased classroom discourse. Students regularly explain their thinking, compare strategies, ask questions, and justify their answers to their partners and small groups. Using manipulatives and equation-building materials gives students something concrete to talk about and helps them communicate their mathematical reasoning with greater confidence.\r\n\r\nMost importantly, these resources are helping students see themselves as capable mathematicians. Students who may have previously been hesitant to participate are more willing to engage, collaborate, and share their thinking.
