We are now well into the school year, and using all of the wonderful materials provided through this project every single day!\r\n\r\nThe whiteboards, markers, and erasers have been used to practice writing all of our letters. They are also used during math learning as we draw and write number sentences to help us better understand how to add and subtract.\r\n\r\nOur new headphones are used every day as scholars practice phonics and problem solving while using programs like Lexia and ST Math on school computers. Our school district provides one on one technology for each of our students, so headphones are essential for focus and concentration.\r\n\r\nJournals and pencils are essential tools that we are using to help us communicate and write 5 star sentences! We have used our journals for social studies and science throughout the beginning of our school year. Journals will be used more and more as our writing skills improve.","fullyFundedDate":1746787376639,"projectUrl":"project/first-graders-love-to-read-and-write/9139044/","projectTitle":"First Graders Love to Read and Write!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. La O Garcia","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp3705370_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1674968733114","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3705370"},{"teacherId":8370852,"projectId":9133051,"letterContent":"Your contribution to our classroom was a great blessing. Students were in awe of the new books, puzzles, and fine motor tools they got to use. We immediately put the hand sanitizers and disinfecting supplies to use. We run out of those materials very quickly and they are not often affordable to continue replacing. You helped be a vessel in helping me provide an education setting and environment that title-1 schools do not often have the means to support. \r\n\r\nOn a personal level, I also got to feel the impact of your donations. I am finally able to sit in a chair that functions. My school unfortunately only has dysfunctional teacher/ computer chairs (the one I had would gradually get lower to the ground, the longer I sat in it). The next steps for these donated items are to keep using them with the classrooms to come. As I continue to have students in my classrooms, those materials will continue to get used. In sum, you blessed less fortunate students have a higher quality environment that their teacher (myself) could not afford either. Our classroom uses several amazing computer programs to help learners improve their academic skills. My first grade scholars use Lexia to improve phonics and reading skills. They also have access to thousands of books, both fiction and nonfiction, on a program called Epic! Epic offers opportunities to build background knowledge in science, math, social studies, technology, and so much more! To improve math skills, students use several different programs - Zearn, ST Math, and Math Fact Lab. Using durable headphones provides much needed support for attention and focus in our classroom while using all of these wonderful programs on their Chromebooks.\r\n\r\nAlso, my young learners thrive and learn better when they are not hungry. Your help and assistance in providing my students with a daily snack is appreciated so much. My young learners have a significant amount of time between lunch and the end of the school day (4 hours). Thank you for helping to fill their tummies so that I can work on filling their brains.","fullyFundedDate":1735697021512,"projectUrl":"project/my-ears-brain-and-tummy-must-be-ready/8977510/","projectTitle":"My Ears, Brain, and Tummy Must Be Ready to Learn!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. La O Garcia","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp3705370_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1674968733114","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3705370"},{"teacherId":8368948,"projectId":8630419,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for contributing to this project to help build our Native American Education Program in the Osborn School District. Having a legible writing helps build their confidence.\r\n\r\nIn addition, a number of students that came late to my class, are catching on the skills the rest of the class has mastered. For example, writing capital letters the size they should be. Many students use to make the mistake of writing a lower case p as a P because there were no lines on their white boards.
