Many of our students lack the confidence, skill, or motivation to take a test of this magnitude. Some lack the resources to even have a good dinner or breakfast for the test. By providing snacks to motivate them, we are able to give a treat that allows them to focus, show up, and try just a little harder than usual.\r\n\r\nThis year, we created a class that will support the skill and confidence part and when they were successful, we gave them treats. This made them want to try during the class and in turn they felt more confident when they had to take the test. On test day, we made snack bags they could have during the two provided ACT breaks. This was able to sustain all students and provide the brainpower to keep going. Thank you for your support.","fullyFundedDate":1768488791343,"projectUrl":"project/motivation-for-testing/9995553/","projectTitle":"Motivation for Testing","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Van Duyn","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp5629308_orig.jpg?crop=501,502,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1661196458022","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/5629308"},{"teacherId":5629308,"projectId":9909619,"letterContent":"Art programs for all students are so important for creative thinking, ownership, and an outlet. Our students struggle so much with poor grades, difficult life situations, or difficulty learning. They use art as a way to show they are good at something. Unfortunately, art programs are the first to be cut from schools and with budgets right now for Arizona education it was the first for our school to cut.\r\n\r\nAs a math teacher, art programs were not my strong suit but I listened to the needs and wants of my students. I took on this challenge to make sure they felt heard and supported. I could not have done it without the help of all the donors here. We have been able to sew, draw, paint, and diamond paint in our new art club which meets once every two weeks. We have even been able to add one art class a day. So thank you from the bottom of our hearts.","fullyFundedDate":1767883261369,"projectUrl":"project/wishes-for-teachers-art-program/9909619/","projectTitle":"Wishes for Teachers Art Program","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Van Duyn","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp5629308_orig.jpg?crop=501,502,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1661196458022","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/5629308"},{"teacherId":9781760,"projectId":9831263,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for supporting our classroom. Because of your generosity, my students now have materials we use every day. The dry erase markers and erasers have quickly become go to tools, especially during poetry lessons where students break down lines and share their thinking on whiteboards in a low pressure way.\r\n\r\nThe headphones have also made a big difference. Students can follow along with audio and stay focused, which has helped build their confidence. One moment that stood out was watching more students participate and revise their ideas during a poetry activity. Engagement across the class has definitely improved.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials arrived, students were excited and ready to use them. Having their own supplies helped them feel more prepared and included. The folders are helping with organization, and the small incentives help keep students on task.\r\n\r\nWe will keep using these materials as we build reading and writing skills through poetry. Students are growing more confident in analyzing, writing, and sharing their ideas. Thank you again for making this possible.","fullyFundedDate":1769177942671,"projectUrl":"project/daily-essentails/9831263/","projectTitle":"Daily Essentails","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Johnson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9781760_orig.png?crop=200,200,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1773419770991","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9781760"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_68991","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":220,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":61,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":7,"percentWhite":7,"percentIndigenous":4,"percentLatinx":77,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"7 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":57.2,"schoolId":68991,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Crestview Preparatory High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Crestview Preparatory High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/arizona/leona-group/ocotillo-high-school/68991"}
