My students use the flexible seating and sensory tools throughout the day during independent work, small-group instruction, testing, and goal work. Having different seating choices allows students to find a space where they can be comfortable while still staying focused and ready to learn. The fidgets, movement options, privacy panels, and headphones have also been especially helpful for students who need a little extra support blocking out distractions or regulating themselves.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw all of the new materials, they were so excited! They immediately wanted to try the different seating options and explore the sensory tools. One of my favorite things has been watching students begin to recognize what helps them learn best. Instead of simply choosing a seat because it looks fun, they are learning that sometimes a wobble stool helps them move while they work, headphones help them concentrate, or a quieter space with a privacy panel helps when they need fewer distractions.\r\n\r\nOur next step is to continue helping students become more independent in recognizing and communicating what they need to be successful learners. As we work on individual academic goals and classroom assignments, students are learning to choose the tools and seating options that help them focus, regulate, and complete their work. These resources have helped us create a classroom where students have choices and where different learning needs are supported every day.\r\n\r\nThank you so much for helping make this possible for my students. Your generosity has provided much more than new classroom materials—it has given my students tools that help them feel comfortable, confident, and ready to learn.","fullyFundedDate":1773033145486,"projectUrl":"project/wiggle-roll-and-focus-flexible-seatin/10089730/","projectTitle":"Wiggle, Roll, and Focus: Flexible Seating for Learning","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Estridge","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8615508"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_61544","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":325,"numTeachers":20,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":12,"percentIndigenous":54,"percentLatinx":23,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":9,"gradesServed":"6 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"16.2:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_REMOTE"},"inStateSupporters":63.4,"schoolId":61544,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Holbrook Junior High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Holbrook Junior High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/arizona/holbrook-unified-school-district-3/holbrook-junior-high-school/61544"}
