The stick bag made our tenor drummer MUCH MORE CREATIVE in his stick changes during the music (definitely a different type of creativity than the art supplies). The valve oil helped the trumpets, baritones, and tubas play they legato lines more smoothly and the staccato/accented passages in a clear fashion! All of the art supplies have enhanced our music classroom through different opportunities to SHOW what we are trying to do with sound. The new markers are particularly energizing to the kids when they use them! Old dry markers are no fun, so you have saved the day!!! Our students have also been able to share kind messages of encouragement with each other and with local community members using the fancy cards. It has been wonderful to see and hear all of the great things the kids are doing in class. One of our seniors organized everything and hung it on the wall in the classroom. Kids like to find their photo and photos of people they know from recent events. It provides a great way for the students to socialize, reflect on past success, and look forward to the future. We have more frames ready to display new photos as we go through this year. The new drum dots made the bass drum kick more clearly and the whole band is \"feeling\" the bass now!!! The paracord is keeping the marimba in working order, and the mallets make the tone sound just right!\r\n\r\nThe kids love seeing the photos in the new frames. One of the freshmen today said, \"I think I'm actually IN THIS ONE!!!\" Now they are on the wall of fame just like the bands from the past six decades. It is a great way to feel like they are finally part of the group. Thanks for making that possible!\r\n\r\nIt is also extremely nice to have the new pens/markers to write information to help the students in class. Thank you!!!\r\n\r\nThe notebooks are helping in many ways as well! The kids are able to write goals and evaluate their progress. They are also writing about how they feel in band and what they hope to do in the future. Many of the kids are making short term and long terms goals for the first time. The notebooks provide a framework to look back and see how much they have accomplished and how their feelings have developed over the weeks and months.
