I asked students for a \"wish list\" of tools and techniques they wanted to try and you really delivered! A few months later, I am seeing the payoff every single day. \r\n\r\nStudents are consistently reaching for our specialty tools- our slip applicators, wax resist, sponge applicators of various sizes, texture rollers and angle cutters are all getting used so frequently on our build days that there is a waitlist of who gets to use each item next! The projects students are producing reflect the greater range of tools and materials available to them- each project more detailed and interesting than the last!\r\n\r\nWhat's more, with your help we were able to assemble not one, but TWO large group mosaics. Students in our nine Ceramics sections each created a tile with custom carvings and additives, glazed to fit within the larger plan. We dreamed big, made it super complex, and wouldn't have been able to assemble it without the mosiac tile mesh and glue you provided. We can't wait to display these remarkable pieces. \r\n\r\nI cannot emphasize enough how much of an impact these projects have made on our students. Not only does it multiply the possibilities of this art form but it makes them feel so loved and supported by our greater community in a time where a lot of students are struggling. To know that there are adults out there not only rooting for them to succeed, but actually funding projects to directly support them has made a huge difference. Thank you so much for being there for our kids.","fullyFundedDate":1745450589978,"projectUrl":"project/experiments-in-ceramics-part-ii/9119682/","projectTitle":"Experiments in Ceramics Part II","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Rittenhouse","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp1776247_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1471567576900","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/ms-s-stevenson"},{"teacherId":1776247,"projectId":9081881,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your contribution to our classroom! With your help we were able to provide students with so many interesting and diverse tools to match their creativity! These tools helped students to create more detailed and intricate designs on their pieces. For example, the Crayola markers and sculpting tools enabled our students to carve tiny designs into their projects, while the squeeze bottles allowed them to create raised slip patterns. \r\n\r\nThe metal pegboard kit, velcro dots, small containers of different sizes, spatulas, syrup dispenser and squeeze bottles allowed us to organize our glazes and create test tiles to more effectively glaze our pieces. Students could test out their glaze combos before applying them to their pieces, leading to more intentional color schemes on their finished work. \r\n\r\nWe had a lot of fun experimenting with these supplies as well! Using dish soap we tried bubble glazing, and various sponges we created gradients. We used wax resist to block off parts of our designs and combine different techniques more effectively!\r\n\r\nIt is quite an amazing thing to be able to say yes to so many of the students' ideas. Yes, we have the tool for that! Yes, we have the supplies we need! Here are some new materials- what new possibilities can we dream up? None of it would be possible without your generosity! You have made such a difference in the lives of our students!","fullyFundedDate":1739891962971,"projectUrl":"project/experiments-in-ceramics/9081881/","projectTitle":"Experiments in Ceramics","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Rittenhouse","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp1776247_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1471567576900","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/ms-s-stevenson"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_48079","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":1694,"numTeachers":113,"percentFrplEligible":32,"percentAsian":2,"percentBlack":5,"percentWhite":51,"percentIndigenous":1,"percentLatinx":33,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"15.0:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"UNCLASSIFIED","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":81.6,"schoolId":48079,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Deer Valley High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Deer Valley High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/arizona/deer-valley-unified-school-district/deer-valley-high-school/48079"}
