My students are some of the most creative students you could imagine. They are true artists, despite their limiting circumstances. For most of my students, the only art they know is graffiti, and they have only the most basic materials- pencils- with which to express themselves. When given supplies, they can create masterpieces. They work hard for their art, and they love it so. It gives them something to be proud of when they are struggling in school. When students first walk through my door they view reading as a chore. But as you and I know, reading can be so much more. Pairing them with the perfect book, providing them with real art supplies, is something I strive to do with each and every student. With your help it is possible to provide these brilliant students with the resources they need to be successful with art, in school and in life.
