Reading is an invaluable skill for young students, and building up that foundation requires a certain level of interest that can be difficult to bring out in students. That's why having books that are engaging and culturally representative of the classroom are so important. \r\nMy students now have more opportunities to see themselves in these stories, relate what they see and hear to their own lives and learn from the actions of these beloved characters. \r\nI have seen a true change in the attitudes surrounding reading time in my classroom because there is now significantly more diverse and interesting stories that bring the class together. It used to be that students were hardly listening and even bored during reading time, but after that first reading of \"Jabari Jumps,\" where my students were now asking questions and relating what we read to their own lives, there is so much more excitement surrounding reading that I can only hope will blossom into that love for reading that can open so many doors for their future endeavors. \r\nI hope to continue adding to this collection, but your donations made it happen so much faster than I had even hoped for. At some point I will also make this into a lending library so that students are able to take these classroom books home to read with their families. I can't thank you enough for making this possible for my students this year and hopefully for many years to come.","fullyFundedDate":1754781524623,"projectUrl":"project/ultimate-book-nook-to-inspire-young-read/9449272/","projectTitle":"Ultimate Book Nook to Inspire Young Readers!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Henry","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10072394_orig.jpg?crop=950,950,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1751923832498","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10072394"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_106036","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":176,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":82,"percentAsian":6,"percentBlack":6,"percentWhite":34,"percentIndigenous":2,"percentLatinx":43,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR District Weighted Average","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":null},"inStateSupporters":85.7,"schoolId":106036,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Skyline Preparatory Charter High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Skyline Preparatory Charter High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/arizona/arizona-department-of-education/skyline-prep-charter-high-school/106036"}
