With the supplies funded by this project, we explored printmaking using LEGO bricks—a unique and engaging process that brought a fresh excitement to our classroom. Students used LEGO \"dots\" to build images, focusing on positive and negative space. They then rolled ink onto their creations and pressed them onto paper to reveal stunning prints. It was an exciting blend of creativity, critical thinking, and hands-on learning.\r\n\r\nTheir reactions to using such an unconventional material for art were absolutely priceless. There were gasps of surprise, wide eyes, and lots of \"Can we really use LEGOs for this?\" It sparked so much curiosity and joy. Many students who were hesitant with traditional art forms became deeply engaged, and the pride they felt when they saw their final prints was truly heartwarming.\r\n\r\nNext, we're building on this lesson by exploring other forms of printmaking and visual storytelling. The confidence and creativity sparked by this project have carried over into everything we do. Thank you for giving my students the opportunity to discover new ways to express themselves and for bringing joy and innovation into our classroom!\r\n\r\nLet me know if you'd like to adjust the tone or add any student quotes!","fullyFundedDate":1737045806063,"projectUrl":"project/using-lego-outside-the-box/9042347/","projectTitle":"Using LEGO \"Outside the Box\"","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Sandala","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9890069"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_105245","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":668,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":24,"percentAsian":59,"percentBlack":10,"percentWhite":15,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":6,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"4 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":64.0,"schoolId":105245,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Basis School - Ahwatukee on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Basis School - Ahwatukee","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/arizona/arizona-department-of-education/basis-ahwatukee/105245"}
