As we developed the novel study for my 4th grade classroom, I really wanted to look at what skills the students missed during our first quarter standards. One thing that I noticed was that the kids really were impacted by the fact they could relate to Peter (Main character in the book).\r\nWhen we read in my class, I actually do it at different levels on top of what regular standards we are teaching currently. I particular like doing a whole class reading with them over the first couple of chapters, so they get comfortable with reading, yet halfway through the book, I actually give them assignments tied to the book. This way they get the hang of a novel study and understand the assignments are all about the book. \r\nWe are currently halfway through our book right now, I am going to be looking at more ways to explore the book.\r\nA lot of my students are actually enjoying the book right now. They are actually identifying with the main character and the sibling rivalry they currently have. \r\nAgain from the bottom of my heart, I have to say thank you so much. My music classroom had several older models, but I never had enough to teach a whole group at once. Now, with your generous support, I can teach piano and music theory to my seventh and eighth graders, without having to use xylophones as a substitute. These keyboards also provide digital samples of orchestral instruments, sound effects, and rhythm components, so students can use modern music technology.\r\n This project has been especially important to my instrument practice group that I see at the end of each day. While a few students have selected guitar as their instrument, most students request to learn the piano. These new keyboards have been in heavy rotation during these groups. Without Donors Choose, I would not be able to meet the demands of the students who yearn to discover music.
