Having this lab equipment available for student use will enhance my STEM and EIE (engineering in elementary) programs. I will be able to facilitate an inquiry based science class in which Students will be able to explore and investigate with teams. Students will investigate reaction times when mixing matter, and will find mass of substances before and after they are mixed. Students will observe the properties of the three basic states of matter. They will also investigate the question: Does air take up space? Students will also be able to investigate water molecules by completing five investigative tasks. Using observations and models, students are able to describe how they know there are tiny particles in water. These are a few of the experiments that will be possible with the equipment, so students can be a part of their learning. This equipment would be used all year for each unit of science covered.
