We have used the stacking cups, pool noodles, foam balls, junior paddles, bowling equipment, and hula hoops during skill stations, relays, cooperative challenges, and health lessons. One memorable activity combined cup stacking with movement: scholars raced to collect cups, worked with teammates to build different patterns, and practiced sequencing, coordination, communication, and perseverance.\r\n\r\nWhen the scholars first saw the colorful new materials, they were incredibly excited and eager to participate. Students who were sometimes hesitant to join physical activities became more confident because the equipment allowed them to practice skills in fun, safe, and low-pressure ways. I have watched scholars celebrate successful catches, encourage teammates, solve stacking challenges together, and learn about body awareness through movement. These resources have helped make our lessons more inclusive while strengthening hand-eye coordination, balance, spatial awareness, teamwork, sportsmanship, and problem-solving skills.\r\n\r\nNext, our scholars will continue using the materials in rotating skill stations focused on throwing, catching, striking, balance, fitness, and cooperation. They will also apply what they have learned during student-created challenges and reflect on how persistence, communication, and healthy choices can help them succeed both inside and outside the gym. Because of your support, PE has become much more than learning sports—it is a place where scholars build confidence, develop lifelong healthy habits, and learn skills that will help them throughout their lives. Thank you for making these meaningful experiences possible!","fullyFundedDate":1772147847727,"projectUrl":"project/more-than-pe-building-skills-for-life/10068861/","projectTitle":"More Than PE: Building Skills for Life","teacherDisplayName":"Coach Payne","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10421890_orig.jpg?crop=620,620,x74,y27&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1769631797045","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10421890"},{"teacherId":10352639,"projectId":9906032,"letterContent":"I am so grateful for your kind and generous hearts and for helping our scholars to have an engaging learning materials. Their excitement was priceless when they first saw everything and attached are photos of both the equipment and our middle school football players. As we move into the next phase of our program, we are seeking guidance on how to obtain football uniforms and safety gear such as helmets, shoulder pads, and mouthguards—especially after one player was injured—so your continued support means the world to us; thank you so much, we are truly grateful to our donors!
