While I understood the challenges students might face, I didn't realize that access to art supplies would also be at risk. That reality pushed me to be creative, but it also meant that I often relied on my own personal supplies and funds to set up and sustain the art room.\r\n\r\nThrough DonorsChoose, my students and I felt something powerful: support from people who genuinely believe in the arts. DonorsChoose became our \"friends of the arts.\" Because of your generosity, I now have a fully stocked art supply closet—with materials not only for my current students, but also for future students and teachers who will use this space.\r\n\r\nOne of my greatest priorities as an art educator is ensuring that the art room remains a place of personal choice, hands-on learning, and creative exploration. In my classroom, students are rarely on screens—only using technology when necessary for artist research, such as during our recent sculpture unit. Teenagers feel a sense of ownership in this space. They experiment, take risks, and discover their voices.\r\n\r\nThese supplies have deepened students' daily experiences, strengthened their creative confidence, and sparked curiosity and joy. Your support has enhanced not only their learning, but their spirit.\r\n\r\nThank you for believing in our students and in the power of art education.","fullyFundedDate":1762123555335,"projectUrl":"project/sculpture-supplies-for-a-title-1-middle/9859995/","projectTitle":"Sculpture Supplies for a Title 1 Middle School Art Class","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Henbest de Calvillo","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6826071_orig.jpg?crop=2448,2449,x0,y497&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1761524650144","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6826071"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_61931","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":530,"numTeachers":45,"percentFrplEligible":84,"percentAsian":3,"percentBlack":13,"percentWhite":12,"percentIndigenous":4,"percentLatinx":62,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"6 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"11.8:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":50.6,"schoolId":61931,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Amphitheater Middle School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Amphitheater Middle School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/arizona/amphitheater-unified-school-district/amphitheater-middle-school/61931"}
