Students are not only using the space for breaks, but also bringing supports into their learning time. The weighted lap stuffies have been especially impactful—students use them right at their desks to stay calm and engaged during lessons. They even loved naming them, which created a sense of connection and comfort. I've seen students who typically struggle to stay focused remain engaged for longer periods simply by having that added sensory support.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials were introduced, the excitement was immediate. The calming blue rug brightened the space and helped create a peaceful, inviting environment that students were naturally drawn to. The wiggle cushions quickly became a class favorite, giving students a way to get their extra energy out while still participating in learning. Instead of constant redirection, students now have tools that help them regulate their bodies in a positive and productive way.\r\n\r\nAs we move forward, we are continuing to build independence by teaching students how to choose the tools that best support their needs. They are learning to recognize when they need movement, pressure, or a break, and how to use these strategies to stay engaged in the classroom. These resources are helping students not only succeed academically, but also develop lifelong skills in self-regulation and emotional awareness.
