Your contributions have a long-lasting impact on student success.\r\nI offer a weekly study hall for high school students who need additional support. Many of these students are considered at risk as they are short on credits to graduation one time. Students are invited to come to study hall to have dedicated quiet space and time to complete work. Your donation provided a variety of snack options. \r\nSnacks have helped support study hall in a variety of ways: attendance, improved distractions from hunger, and increased alertness. Every student in attendance has made positive comments about the snacks. They love the variety and availability. The snacks have supported focus and learning. A 2020 Journal of Nutrition study showed students eating a balanced snack during study periods scored 11% higher on memory recall tasks. Having a bite to eat, including high protein snack choices has helped with students battling study fatigue, reduced focus, and irritability. \r\nJust like a computer needs to be recharged before it can function properly, student's brains need energy too.
