Each group grew around 7-8 kids, and the jazz band is overflowing. They all will have a greater musical experience thanks in part to you!\r\n\r\nYou are amazing and wonderful! You've helped to make my unit comprehensive by enabling my students to have access to the book Alaska Native Resilience: Voices From World War II, by Holly Miowak Guise. I teach a course called Alaska Studies in Anchorage, Alaska, which is a required semester-long class for all high school students. The research of history and its impacts on Alaska is limited from the indigenous perspective, and this perspective must be integrated into classrooms. This book has helped me to reach this goal.\r\n\r\nIn my courses, students are introduced to this book in numerous ways. One way we use this book is through independent reading in class and outside of the classroom. When reading outside of class, students are required to analyze what they've read, based on the following four questions related to rights and responsibilities. \r\n\r\n\r\nWhat responsibilities did the U.S. Government have to the Unangax? \r\nWhat responsibilities did the Unangax have to the United States? \r\nWere the rights of the people considered in this government action?\r\nHow could rights and responsibilities on both sides have been balanced or reconciled differently? \r\n\r\nIn class, we have academic discourse and address our thoughts and perspectives on these questions.
