The arrival of the t-squares, triangles, and drawing pads transformed our classroom into a professional design studio. For my 3rd–5th grade gifted students, the transition from drawing simple, flat shapes to complex 3D forms was a major \"aha!\" moment. Using the one- and two-point perspective drawing guidelines, they began to understand the mathematical beauty behind art. The t-squares and triangles provided the precision they needed to feel successful, turning what could have been a frustrating lesson in freehand drawing into an empowering lesson in technical skill.\r\n\r\nThe 3D room templates were a particular highlight and served as the perfect scaffold for their creativity. By having a structured starting point, my students felt the confidence to design intricate interior spaces, applying the rules of perspective to create depth and realism. Beyond the technical skills, these tools allowed us to have deep conversations about how perspective—both on the page and in our lives—changes based on where we stand. Watching my students realize that they have the power to \"build\" a three-dimensional world on a flat piece of paper has been a highlight of our school year.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has given these budding artists the confidence to tackle difficult concepts and the tools to express their unique points of view. Thank you for investing in our classroom and for helping my students see the world through a whole new lens!","fullyFundedDate":1754695554198,"projectUrl":"project/its-all-about-perspective/9484903/","projectTitle":"It’s All About Perspective!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Carpenter","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp3628756_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1753931528115","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/carpenter4ces"},{"teacherId":7324033,"projectId":7196278,"letterContent":"First and foremost, thank you so much for your generous contributions to our classroom library. Many of you have shared a love for reading, and while you may not be educators yourselves, your support is helping to instill that same passion in my students—and equipping them with valuable literacy skills along the way.\r\n\r\nIn our classroom, reading is more than just decoding words; it's about making connections, building comprehension, and developing critical thinking. The picture books you've provided have been a wonderful resource for introducing skills such as identifying theme, character development, sequencing events, and analyzing illustrations as text. These rich, engaging stories offer opportunities for students to discuss, reflect, and respond—helping them grow as thoughtful readers.\r\n\r\nReading in our classroom takes many forms. During our read-aloud sessions, students eagerly gather to listen and engage with new texts, often using the stories as springboards for deeper conversations or writing activities. These books also serve as much-needed brain breaks throughout the day, offering students a moment to reset while still practicing their literacy skills. Additionally, students love escaping the rigor of their core texts by diving into a picture book during their free time.\r\n\r\nMany of my students are especially motivated by the fun, easy-to-read books you've helped us acquire. They're striving to meet their word count goals with excitement and purpose—something that has been so inspiring to witness. In particular, a few of my more reluctant readers have found joy in these texts, gaining confidence and enthusiasm with each new book they finish.\r\n\r\nYour support is making a tangible difference in our classroom. Thank you for helping to create a space where reading is not only a skill to be mastered, but a joy to be shared.","fullyFundedDate":1680202189053,"projectUrl":"project/classroom-library-restock/7196278/","projectTitle":"Classroom Library Restock","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Lester","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7324033_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1661015263343","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mrs-kabrina-lester"},{"teacherId":7324033,"projectId":8136655,"letterContent":"When the boxes arrived, my students were buzzing with excitement! They eagerly helped unpack the storage containers and station materials, asking questions about how we'd use everything. Their eyes lit up when they saw the colorful games, manipulatives, and tools that would soon become part of their daily reading routine. It felt like Christmas in our classroom!\r\n\r\nWe've already begun using the materials to launch our new interactive reading stations. Each station focuses on key reading skills—word work, vocabulary building, and comprehension—and the organized bins make it so easy for students to grab what they need and dive right in. One student who typically struggles with focus during reading blocks shared that the hands-on games made \"learning feel like fun.\" Another told me that using the vocabulary puzzles helped him \"finally get it.\"\r\n\r\nOne of the most meaningful moments so far has been watching students independently rotate through stations, confidently managing their time and tasks. They love the ownership they now have over their learning, and I've seen their engagement and confidence soar. During small group time at my table, I'm able to work more intentionally with students who need extra support, using the tools provided to reinforce specific skills in a fun, interactive way.\r\n\r\nThanks to your generosity, my students are not only better equipped for testing season—they're enjoying the learning process more than ever. Our next steps include building on our word work with a focus on prefixes, suffixes, and Greek/Latin roots, using new games and visual supports to deepen understanding.\r\n\r\nYour support has made a lasting impact, and we are so grateful. These resources have transformed our reading block into a space of joy, growth, and discovery.","fullyFundedDate":1715103453386,"projectUrl":"project/interactive-ela-stations/8136655/","projectTitle":"Interactive ELA Stations","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Lester","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7324033_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1661015263343","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mrs-kabrina-lester"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_15361","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":246,"numTeachers":11,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":56,"percentWhite":35,"percentIndigenous":1,"percentLatinx":4,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"22.4:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"TOWN","ncesMetroType":"TOWN_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":47.0,"schoolId":15361,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Childersburg Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Childersburg Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/alabama/talladega-county-school-district/childersburg-elementary-school/15361"}
