We have had success with a couple of astronomy nights with our STEM Club, mostly learning the best areas to view the night sky. It has been quite a challenge to find suitable viewing areas near campus as new school construction and spring sport field lights required us to move into rural areas. \r\nThe students were very excited when I told them that we had received funding for our classroom telescope. They were tasked with putting it together and learning to use the star tracking computer. \r\nWe have managed to find some suitable viewing areas nearby at a local church. Our goal is to have some school-wide organized \"astronomy nights\" after Fall football games and during other key astronomical events. I will be purchasing a solar filter so that we may video and photograph sun spots during the school day to allow more students to enhance their understanding of solar processes in Earth and Space science.","fullyFundedDate":1731509377306,"projectUrl":"project/stem-gateway-to-the-cosmos/8768533/","projectTitle":"STEM Gateway to the Cosmos","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Usry","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-1_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9744301"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_9287","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":704,"numTeachers":37,"percentFrplEligible":59,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":15,"percentWhite":70,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":8,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"19.0:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_FRINGE"},"inStateSupporters":82.1,"schoolId":9287,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Moody High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Moody High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/alabama/st-clair-county-school-district/moody-high-school/9287"}
