Every student in my classroom comes from a Title I school, so having access to quality supplies without placing an additional financial burden on students or their families is incredibly important. These donations help ensure that every student can participate fully in hands-on learning, regardless of their financial circumstances. Items such as gloves, disposable isolation gowns, masks, pulse oximeters, glucose testing supplies, and wound care materials allow students to practice skills using the same types of equipment and supplies they may encounter in healthcare settings.\r\n\r\nThe impact of these donations also extends beyond our classroom lessons. Healthy snacks help students remain focused and ready to learn, while personal hygiene supplies such as pads and tampons allow us to discreetly meet basic student needs so that those needs do not become a barrier to learning. Having these resources readily available creates a classroom environment where students feel supported while also giving them meaningful opportunities to develop practical healthcare skills.\r\n\r\nMost importantly, these donations help bring health science education to life. Instead of simply reading about personal protective equipment, vital signs, glucose testing, wound care, and other healthcare concepts, students can practice, apply, and build confidence in these skills firsthand. For students exploring careers in healthcare, these experiences can be the first step toward discovering a future career and developing the skills they will carry with them into postsecondary education, credentialing programs, and the healthcare workforce.
