We are using them to learn about composing music. Students use the Piano app on the Makey-Makey website. They compose a tune, as musicians and composers usually would. However, the Makey-Makey adds extra layers of curiosity, discovery, problem solving, and fun to the activity.\r\n Students were very curious when I set up the demonstration for the first time. When I showed them how the Makey-Makeys worked with various conductive materials, they were so excited and could not wait to use them. \r\n My next lesson idea for the Makey-Makeys is for students to compose a jingle for the Makey-Makey, using a few of the different apps on the brand website. The pool noodles have made a great difference in the sound of the classroom, as well as the overall environment. When the students move their chairs, they no longer make a loud, disruptive sound from either hitting the floor or hitting another chair. My students love the various colors and the pizazz it brings to the room.\r\n In addition to the pool noodles on the chair legs, I also cut the pool noodles to create soft rhythm sticks for our students who need an instrument that is less stimulating than a traditional instrument. Some of our students can experience sensory overload when they come to my music class.
