Because I teach in an alternative elementary school, many students are working to improve their behavior, complete assignments, and meet individual academic and social-emotional goals. The snacks provide an immediate and meaningful reward that helps reinforce positive choices.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the snacks, they were excited and grateful. They enjoyed seeing the different options and immediately began asking how they could earn them. One memorable moment occurred when a student completed a challenging assignment without giving up and proudly selected a snack as a reward. The student's smile showed how much this simple recognition meant.\r\n\r\nOur next step is to continue using the snacks alongside our classroom behavior system. Students will earn them for meeting daily goals, demonstrating kindness, following directions, completing academic tasks, and showing improvement. We are also beginning new small-group reading and math lessons, and the snacks will help motivate students to remain engaged and persevere through difficult work. These resources are helping us create a classroom environment where students feel encouraged, supported, and proud of their progress.","fullyFundedDate":1777982130799,"projectUrl":"project/a-hungry-belly-cannot-focus/10080375/","projectTitle":"A Hungry Belly Cannot Focus","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Johnson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp4799236_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1509709468882","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/4799236"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_121184","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":74,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":71,"percentAsian":2,"percentBlack":50,"percentWhite":35,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":6,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":5,"gradesServed":"K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR District Record","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":null},"inStateSupporters":47.4,"schoolId":121184,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Pathway K-5 School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Pathway K-5 School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/alabama/mobile-county-public-schools/the-pathway-k-5/121184"}
