Each book in the set features an emotion or emotional concept that is illustrated with darling pictures and plush toys to hold. I couldn't have imagined how much participation the plush toys would bring while we read each book. Because I am a special education teacher, the students that are interacting with these books usually have language delays and also need significant coaching to develop their social skills. Each book also comes with resources inside to be duplicated and utilized. I am beginning to use these thoughtfully in my classroom as we introduce each new book. \r\nMy behavior development groups are anywhere from 5 to 12 students in kindergarten or first grade. I choose books based on what other themes are being highlighted throughout the school, as we sometimes do character emphasis weeks on kindness or courage. \r\nI am so thankful to have the opportunity to use these books with my students. I generally get to have students between 2 and 3 years (if they repeat kindergarten or 1st grade), so I get to see the growth of these students for longer than most of their teachers. These already have been a valuable resource to these students and will be used to help them build skills that will make a lasting impact on their lives. The earlier and longer we teach these skills in isolation and practice them, the greater the effect will be on their ability function appropriately.
