Both grades were thrilled with the number and variety of colors they had to choose from for their projects!\r\n\r\nThe 5th grade Mexican Folk Art frames looked wonderful with the gloss paint. It really complimented the paint pen designs that they drew on the frames and the Model Magic clay sculpture they put within the frame. Some students couldn't decide on one color and used a different color for the frame and background. The painted background really set the stage for all their work! \r\nThe 4th graders made Sugar Skull Sculptures where they traced their skull onto the painted cardboard and then added cut out cardboard shapes/scraps to make their Sugar Skull design. They had so much fun finding some of the other painted scraps to work from because they were so brightly colored. Thank you so much for the opportunity to make my students' Hispanic Heritage projects richer with your donation. Students were thrilled to have the portraits they designed printed on the cardstock so they could take them home for Mother's Day. Parents who came in the building remarked on how wonderful the portraits looked! We have kept a copy of all the 4th and 5th grade portraits on display throughout the summer/ summer school, just to celebrate these students and their achievements.\r\nI have plenty of cardstock to make this a yearly project for my fourth and fifth graders because the students enjoyed it so much! I think saving a copy of the fourth grade year and displaying it next to their fifth grade year portrait will really be amazing! \r\nThe paint pens I bought that I thought would be great to accent the photos were too much of an addition. I will use them to create other projects this coming school year for Dia de los Muertos and sculptural projects.\r\nI know that paper is a small thing to add, but to these kids and with this project, the cardstock made it perfect! The Mother's Day present - perfection! Thank you so much for your kind donation!
