While we cannot deny change and advancement, it's imperative that we consider the implications that technology has on the mind's of our youth. It's not a coincidence that young people are battling with mental health issues more than ever before. \r\n\r\nThere are studies that have proven that being creative helps to combat anxiety. My classroom has become a safe haven for students to come during lunch and explore that creativity and socialize with peers. Thanks to your generosity, students are tapping into their artistic side and engaging with their peers in ways that would never happen if they had a screen in their hands. Thank you for helping me to create this space for students to feel safe, seen, and creative.","fullyFundedDate":1758617843266,"projectUrl":"project/craft-and-connect/9704827/","projectTitle":"Craft and Connect","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Candela","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp1075838_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1476662998400","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/1075838"},{"teacherId":9590459,"projectId":9357211,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous support! My students and I have been using the new materials during our advisory class to practice mindfulness and build a calm, positive environment. When the students first saw the resources, they were extremely excited—many of them had never even heard of diamond art before! Once they started working on it, they were immediately engaged and curious. As they placed each piece, students shared that the activity helped them feel calm and at peace—it gave them a chance to reset after a long and often stressful day. It quickly became one of their favorite quiet activities.\r\n\r\nOne of the most meaningful parts was seeing what students chose to do with their completed projects. Many proudly gifted their finished artwork to parents, teachers, and other staff members as a way to show appreciation. It turned a mindfulness activity into an act of kindness and connection within our school community.\r\n\r\nThanks to you, we plan to continue using these materials in future advisory lessons focused on social-emotional learning, creativity, and stress management. We are also exploring ways to create a collaborative display or gallery of the artwork. Your support has made a real difference in our classroom experience, and we are so grateful!","fullyFundedDate":1747499101267,"projectUrl":"project/mindful-advisory-artvibes/9357211/","projectTitle":"Mindful Advisory ArtVibes","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. McGeary","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9590459_orig.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1753810216758","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9590459"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_96279","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":253,"numTeachers":29,"percentFrplEligible":90,"percentAsian":4,"percentBlack":45,"percentWhite":5,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":39,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"6 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"8.7:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":52.3,"schoolId":96279,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Young Women's Ldrshp School - Bklyn on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Young Women's Ldrshp School - Bklyn","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-york/new-york-city-dept-of-ed/young-women-s-leadership-school-bklyn/96279"}
