As the first semester comes to an end, I can confidently say it was a successful start to my first year. The equipment I was able to purchase has made a noticeable impact. The Velcro ball set supported our hand–eye coordination unit with the younger students at the beginning of the year. The hula hoops were especially helpful for Pre-K through 2nd grade. I used them in obstacle courses, where students practiced locomotor skills, balance, body control, and spatial awareness.\r\n\r\nThe floor poly spots have also become a staple in the gym. They reinforce counting skills for the younger students and help create a colorful, welcoming environment.\r\n\r\nSince my curriculum aligns with seasonal sports, we've been able to put our soccer balls to great use (and our boys' middle school team even made the playoffs!), and we're currently in our basketball unit. An honorable mention goes to the handheld air pump, which has been used countless times by me and others in the building. I'm hoping to upgrade to a more durable one in an upcoming project.\r\n\r\nThank you all again for helping me bring life to PE.","fullyFundedDate":1755304405377,"projectUrl":"project/help-coach-u-bring-pe-to-life/9583199/","projectTitle":"Help Coach U Bring PE to Life!","teacherDisplayName":"Coach U","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9596848_orig.jpg?crop=1242,1242,x0,y774&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1755093811202","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9596848"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_5619","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":398,"numTeachers":41,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":73,"percentWhite":0,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":24,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":0,"gradesServed":"Pre-K - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"9.7:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":67.3,"schoolId":5619,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Ella Flagg Young Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Ella Flagg Young Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/illinois/chicago-public-school-district-299/young-elementary-school/5619"}
