Being able to have a copy of their own gave them the independence to read at their own pace, annotate, revisit meaningful moments, and truly connect with the story. It transformed reading from something they had to do into something they were excited to do each day.\r\n\r\nAs we read together, we explored important lessons about kindness, empathy, self-love, acceptance, and the value of true friendship. The novel sparked thoughtful classroom discussions where students reflected on how their words and actions affect others. They made personal connections to the characters and shared experiences that helped us build an even stronger classroom community. By the end of the book, my students walked away with a greater understanding of what it means to be a caring friend, an inclusive classmate, and someone who chooses kindness.\r\n\r\nThis project was especially meaningful because my students were preparing to transition to middle school. Ending our year together with this beautiful novel gave us the opportunity to reflect on the kind of people they want to become as they begin a new chapter. Watching students eagerly discuss the book with one another, recommend their favorite chapters, and celebrate each other's ideas was incredibly rewarding.\r\n\r\nThank you for believing in my students and helping make this vision a reality. Your generosity provided much more than books, it created meaningful conversations, lasting memories, and lessons that my students will carry with them long after they leave my classroom.
