I am Christina DiMartino and you have funded my FIRST classroom project on New Years Eve! I had no idea what to expect since this was my first experience and I saw as of my Christmas break that the project was not funded, so assumed it wouldn't be at all. What a surprise and great way to start the new year with someone so giving. It honestly perked up my whole attitude and feelings moving into the new year. I was like, \"WOW a stranger just gave me all these supplies for my students, how amazing!\" I realized that it was a sign that I should go into the new 2026 year with this giving and appreciative attitude! I appreciate that on so many levels!\r\n\r\nAs for the supplies, WOW! How helpful that each student can come to school and receive a pencil when they need one. They can borrow from my front desk and I don't have to hunt them down when they leave my class with it. I now have enough to hopefully get me through the whole year and the students have even come from other classes to ask me if they can borrow one because it is now no stress attached so a simple thing like a piece of graphite. I also made some bins that I put on the kid's desks that includes 2 pencils, a fancy new eraser, marker set, highlighters. It is SO organized!\r\n\r\nTo top it off, you have provided us with snacks! Students from low income households can come to me when they are hungry and because of a generous person like you, I am able to provide them. I always wished to be able to do this because being hungry and asking for food is a moment that students will remember forever in a negative way. I tried to provide snacks here and there but only when things were on sale, as I have my own 2 babies at home that my salary doesn't eagerly provide for. I can not thank you enough for all the ways you have impacted my students, and even more, the kindness that has rubbed off for my 2026 year!\r\n\r\nThank the world for people like you!!","fullyFundedDate":1767201804844,"projectUrl":"project/classroom-start-up/9912023/","projectTitle":"Classroom Start Up","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. DiMartino","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10358529"},{"teacherId":1759916,"projectId":9792121,"letterContent":"The arrival of the materials was a truly transformative moment for our school. When the boxes first arrived, the atmosphere was electric; students were huddled around, marveling at the precision of the machines and realizing that they finally had access to the same \"industry-standard\" tools used by professional designers. One student, who often struggles with engagement, ran a finger along the sleek edge of the Cricut Maker and remarked, \"We aren't just doing a school project anymore; we're running a real shop.\" This shift in perspective from passive consumer to active creator has fostered a profound sense of ownership and a commitment to excellence that has completely revitalized our classroom culture.\r\n\r\nRight now, students are deeply engaged in the \"Prototype Phase,\" where we've already seen incredible breakthroughs. A specific highlight was watching our student-led design team successfully convert their hand-drawn mascot sketches into digital CAD files. They are currently huddled in small groups, testing different vinyl \"weeding\" techniques to ensure the fine details of our mascot are preserved during the cutting process. The hands-on nature of the enterprise has provided a significant boost in confidence; it is moving to see them troubleshoot engineering challenges together, realizing that their technical literacy has real-world value.\r\n\r\nOur next steps involve launching our \"Quality Control Lab.\" Students will use the EasyPress 3 to conduct durability tests on various fabrics, applying the scientific method to determine the precise temperature and pressure needed for a lasting product. This ensures that the spirit wear we provide to the School Community is professional-grade. Once our production standards are met, we will officially open our \"Kindness Queue.\" This is the heart of the project, where students will process their first round of orders specifically to fund our initial donation to the local food bank. One student summed up the collective relief perfectly: \"Now I don't have to worry about my stomach growling during the quiet parts of the test.\"\r\n\r\nThe impact was immediate during our recent Writing Workshop. In the past, the final hour of the day was often met with fatigue, but with the pantry stocked, I watched a student who usually struggles to stay on task grab a healthy snack and produce three full pages of a creative narrative. Having these resources readily available allows me to spend less time managing \"hangry\" outbursts and more time facilitating those \"lightbulb moments\" that make teaching so rewarding.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we are using the pantry as a living laboratory for our \"Science of Energy\" unit. The resources and opportunities that come through DonorsChoose truly make a difference in ways that are difficult to put into words. Many of our students come from families who face financial challenges, and our school often struggles to provide the materials and tools that help create an engaging, inspiring learning environment. Your generosity changes that reality for us.\r\n\r\nThrough DonorsChoose, our classrooms have been able to receive supplies and learning materials that would have otherwise been beyond our reach. Whether it is books, hands-on learning tools, classroom essentials, or materials that spark creativity, each donation has had a meaningful impact on my students' daily lives. These items allow them to focus, participate, and experience learning in more interactive and enriching ways. For many of my students, something as simple as having their own materials gives them confidence and pride in their work.\r\n\r\nThe projects funded through DonorsChoose have transformed the energy in my classroom. Students are more motivated and engaged because they now have the tools they need to explore new concepts, practice skills, and enjoy learning. I have seen students who once struggled to stay on task become more enthusiastic and willing to try. I have watched them collaborate, experiment, and ask more questions. The excitement in their eyes when they receive something new—something meant just for them—is priceless. Your support does not just provide materials; it provides hope, encouragement, and a belief that their education matters.\r\n\r\nAs a teacher, DonorsChoose has given me opportunities I never thought possible. Instead of worrying about how I will fund basic items or special projects, I am able to focus on creating meaningful learning experiences. Your kindness reminds me that there are people who believe in our students and who care deeply about their success. That support means more than you will ever know.\r\n\r\nThank you, DonorsChoose, and thank you to every donor who makes these projects come to life. We understand that academic success is impossible without emotional well-being; stress, anxiety, and the pressure of high school can easily derail a student's ability to focus in a quiet study environment. This collection of resources—including The Calm Ball, sensory Calm Strips, Fidget Friends, and Mindful Maze Boards—has transformed the library into an essential support hub.\r\n\r\nThe primary impact has been the introduction of discreet, accessible self-regulation. For students grappling with anxiety, the Fidget Friends and Calm Strips provide a quiet, tactile outlet to channel restless energy, allowing them to remain seated and concentrate on reading or studying without causing disruption. These tools normalize the need for emotional support and put the control directly into the students' hands.\r\n\r\nFurthermore, resources like the Mindful Maze Boards teach tangible, life-long skills. By guiding students through controlled breathing patterns, they are learning how to calm their own nervous systems. This ability to quickly reset their emotional state means fewer learning interruptions and greater engagement with academic material. Instead of retreating from the library when overwhelmed, students are now empowered to use a tool to recenter themselves, increasing their confidence and resilience. The library is no longer just a place to find information; it is a place where students find strength and calm.","fullyFundedDate":1757949422656,"projectUrl":"project/tools-for-resilience-building-emotional/9432286/","projectTitle":"Tools for Resilience: Building Emotional Strength in Our Library","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Sternberg","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp1759916_orig.png?crop=604,604,x715,y830&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1740583343043","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/ms-sternberg"},{"teacherId":1759916,"projectId":9716361,"letterContent":"I am writing to share the significant positive impact that a new Chromebook charging station will have on our library and school community. This seemingly simple addition will fundamentally change how students and staff interact with our space and its resources.\r\n\r\nCurrently, the library often serves as a point of frustration for both students and staff when a device runs out of power. Staff members spend valuable time managing charging requests and troubleshooting power issues, while students lose precious learning time and face the stress of a dead battery. The dedicated charging station will eliminate these daily struggles, allowing staff to focus on their core responsibilities and creating a much calmer and more productive environment.\r\n\r\nBeyond the immediate benefits, this project solidifies the library's role as the central hub for digital learning within the school. We become a guaranteed space where students can confidently come to work, knowing they will always have the necessary resources—including power—to complete their assignments. This is a powerful step toward ensuring equitable access for all students, especially those who may not have a reliable way to charge their devices at home.\r\n\r\nUltimately, by providing this infrastructure, we are not just adding a piece of equipment; we are investing in a more efficient, supportive, and inclusive learning environment. Previously, the sheer size of the library often made it challenging for their voices to project, leading to hesitation and sometimes even frustration. Now, with the new microphones, our students approach presentations with newfound confidence and enthusiasm. They are able to focus entirely on their content and delivery, knowing that their hard work will be heard by everyone. Your support has been truly transformative for my students, creating a more inclusive and equitable learning environment. For many of you who utilize technology in your daily lives, it might be interesting to see how specifically this type of technology is enhancing learning in our classrooms. The translation software we've implemented is breaking down communication barriers in real-time. Students who are English language learners can now access learning materials, participate in discussions, and understand instructions with greater ease. This immediate access fosters deeper comprehension and allows them to engage more fully with the curriculum alongside their English-speaking peers. It's not just about translating words; it's about providing equitable access to knowledge and ensuring every student has the opportunity to thrive.\r\n\r\nThe feature that has sparked the most excitement among my students is the live transcription and translation during lessons. Imagine a student hearing a lesson in English while simultaneously reading the translated text in their native language on their individual device. This instant comprehension builds confidence and reduces the anxiety that can often accompany language barriers. Furthermore, many students are thrilled to use the voice-to-text translation features when working in groups or presenting, allowing them to express their ideas fluently in their own language, which is then translated for their classmates and me. This technology validates their linguistic diversity and fosters a greater appreciation for multilingualism within our classroom community.\r\n\r\nI've observed remarkable progress in several students who previously struggled to participate fully due to language barriers. For instance, one student who recently arrived from [mention a country if you feel comfortable and it's relevant] has blossomed. Initially hesitant to speak in class, they now actively contribute to discussions using the translation tools. The ability to understand and be understood has visibly boosted their confidence and engagement. Similarly, another student who had been relying heavily on peer support for translation is now demonstrating greater independence and taking more ownership of their learning. Your investment in this technology is not just providing tools; it's unlocking potential and fostering a sense of belonging for all my students. Thanks to your donation, students who speak a variety of languages were able to collaborate meaningfully in mixed-language groups. The translation device allowed them to communicate their ideas clearly, ask questions, and understand each other's contributions without the usual language barriers.\r\n\r\nNot only did the device foster deeper collaboration during the research and project development stages, but it also empowered our students to confidently present their projects to the class.
