The laminator, paper cutter, book baskets, small-group books, and organizing bins have already made a huge difference in our classroom. We've used them to organize our library, prepare small-group reading materials, and create engaging, durable resources. One special moment was watching students help sort the new book baskets—they were so proud to build a library that felt \"real\" and ready for learning.\r\n\r\nTheir reactions when they first saw the materials were priceless. Students immediately explored the reorganized shelves and kept commenting on how neat, colorful, and exciting everything looked. The new tools have helped create a welcoming space where they feel motivated to read, explore, and learn together.\r\n\r\nAs we move forward with our first reading unit, students will be using the small-group books during guided reading and choosing from the organized baskets to practice identifying genres and building stamina. Your generosity has given them a classroom that feels inspiring and full of possibilities. Your gift made it possible for our students to go home with a new book for Christmas. \r\nWe had such a fun Jolabokaflod celebration. During the last week of school before Christmas break, I transformed the library into a Christmas wonderland. As students came into the library, they were greeted with dimmed lights, a crackling fireplace on the screen and warm cocoa to drink. We talked about the Icelandic tradition of Jolabokaflod, or Christmas Book Flood. On Christmas Eve people give each other a new book, then spend the evening by the fire, reading their new book and drinking hot chocolate. I then explained that this is exactly what we were going to be doing today! The students were all so surprised and excited when I told them they would all be going home with a brand new book. \r\nI laid out the new books on the display table in the center of the library, and the students took turns choosing a new book to keep, getting some hot cocoa, and then reading in the firelight. It was such an enjoyable celebration, and I loved seeing the joy on the students' faces as they chose their new books. \r\nThank you so much for helping to make this possible!","fullyFundedDate":1728055206455,"projectUrl":"project/a-book-for-every-child/8769425/","projectTitle":"A Book For Every Child!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Hauck","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8023265_orig.jpg?crop=3456,3456,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1679947790473","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8023265"},{"teacherId":8611534,"projectId":8831108,"letterContent":"On behalf of myself and my students, I want to extend our deepest gratitude for your generous donation of book sets for our classroom. This gift is an incredible investment in the education and development of our students, and its impact will resonate far beyond the walls of our classroom.\r\n\r\nReading is a cornerstone of academic success, and access to quality books plays a pivotal role in nurturing a lifelong love of learning. The books you provided will allow us to embark on meaningful group reading activities, improving students' comprehension skills as they engage in thoughtful discussions about the texts. \r\n\r\nYour donation also supports the development of reading fluency, as students practice reading aloud and hear their peers model expressive and accurate reading. This shared experience not only enhances individual reading abilities but also fosters a sense of community and collaboration within my class.\r\n\r\nAdditionally, the variety of genres included in the book sets will expose my students to a diverse array of literature that will broaden their horizons and ignite their curiosity about the world around them. They will have the opportunity to explore new ideas, cultures, and perspectives, enriching their understanding and appreciation of literature as a whole.\r\n\r\nThank you once again for your thoughtful and impactful contribution.
