The arrival of these new books has transformed our classroom library into a hub of excitement. While reading for pleasure is the primary goal, these texts serve as vital tools for our daily lessons. In Kindergarten, we are working hard on the \"building blocks\" of reading. We are using these new books to master decoding and learning to blend phonetic words. These texts allow us to practice letter-sound recognition, tracking print from left to right, and using picture clues to understand a story. Because the content is so engaging, my students are eager to try sounding out new words rather than feeling intimidated by them. These aren't just stories; they are the tools we use to turn \"non-readers\" into confident \"emergent readers.\"\r\n\r\nI have noticed a significant shift in several students who were initially hesitant to pick up a book. One student in particular, who used to feel overwhelmed by text, has now successfully \"read\" through five of our new phonetic readers. Watching their eyes light up as they realize they have the power to unlock a story on their own is the best reward a teacher could ask for. Your donation didn't just buy books; it bought the very first \"Aha!\" moments of a child's academic life.","fullyFundedDate":1764601194405,"projectUrl":"project/life-long-readers-are-life-long-learners/9926939/","projectTitle":"Life Long Readers Are Life Long Learners!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Lezaun","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8952524_orig.jpg?crop=2724,2724,x0,y326&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1680906658999","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8952524"},{"teacherId":9556570,"projectId":9469226,"letterContent":"We have enjoyed using the construction papers and crayons to be expressive.
