One of the most memorable moments was when I introduced our hygiene project using the new materials. We set up a \"self-care station\" where students could explore items like toothbrushes, soap, and hand wipes. They were eager to handle the materials, ask questions, and even role-play routines like handwashing and brushing teeth.\r\n\r\nThe first reaction was pure excitement—several students smiled and said things like, \"We get to use these?\" For many of them, it felt empowering to have tangible, real-life items they could practice with in a safe classroom environment.\r\n\r\nRight now, our next steps include putting this knowledge into action through a hands-on project. Students will be creating posters that illustrate step-by-step hygiene routines, which we'll display around the classroom and school. This will not only reinforce their learning but also allow them to take ownership and share their knowledge with peers. The project connects directly to our goals of building independence, confidence, and healthy habits.\r\n\r\nThanks to your support, what started as simple supplies has grown into an engaging, meaningful project that makes a real difference in their daily lives.","fullyFundedDate":1741374358034,"projectUrl":"project/hygiene-heroes/8950866/","projectTitle":"Hygiene Heroes","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Rice","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7700026"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_79397","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":495,"numTeachers":21,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":8,"percentWhite":2,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":88,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 6","studentTeacherRatio":"23.6:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":84.4,"schoolId":79397,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Williams Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Williams Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/bakersfield-city-school-district/williams-elementary-school/79397"}
