Your generosity has allowed us to bring essential technology into our classroom, helping us personalize learning and meet the diverse needs of our students more effectively. With these new tools, I've been able to implement differentiated instruction in a way that's engaging, efficient, and impactful.\r\nThe technology has made a huge difference in how students access and interact with content. For example, during small group rotations, students use tablets and headphones to work on tailored assignments that match their skill levels—whether it's reading comprehension, math fluency, or science exploration. One student who previously struggled with focus has really warmed to the interactive learning apps; he's now excited to participate and even volunteers to help others navigate the tools.","fullyFundedDate":1706726694155,"projectUrl":"project/di-is-targeted-instruction/7864687/","projectTitle":"DI Is Targeted Instruction","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Lopez-Ruiz","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp4007246_orig.jpg?crop=951,951,x0,y136&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1597880007721","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/4007246"},{"teacherId":3173672,"projectId":8986992,"letterContent":"Thank you very much for your generous donation that made it possible for my Pre-K special education classroom to receive three touchscreen computers. Your support has had a truly meaningful impact on my students' ability to access and engage with technology in ways that were previously out of reach. \r\n\r\nBecause my students are between the ages of three and five and they all have developmental delays, using a traditional computer mouse has been a significant barrier for all of them. Most are not yet able to understand or physically coordinate the movements needed to operate a mouse. This limitation made it difficult for them to be independent during computer time, which in turn reduced the amount of time they could spend engaging with academic technology. \r\n\r\nNow, thanks to the touchscreen computers, all of that has changed. The children are able to independently explore academic platforms like Starfall, ABCmouse, KhanAcademy Kids, and even Minecraft Education-- which has quickly become a class favorite! These tools help build foundational skills in literacy and math while also giving students the joy of play and discovery. Every day, the children rotate through the computers during technology time, and every single student gets a turn to learn and grow through interactive programs. \r\n\r\nWhat gets them the most excited is that they can \"play\" while they're actually learning. The touchscreen format is familiar to them given that many have used tablets or smartphones at home and this comfort has helped them engage much more quickly and confidently than with traditional computer setups. This has been especially impactful for my students on the autism spectrum, who often struggle with understanding the abstract concept of mouse control. Touchscreens have removed that barrier and opened up new opportunities for them to learn in a way that makes sense for how they interact with the world.\r\n\r\nOne student in particular, who used to avoid the computer center entirely, now eagerly waits his turn. He lights up as he touches letters and shapes on the screen, giggling and shouting out answers with joy. Seeing this transformation, not just in him, but in all of my students, has been deeply moving. \r\n\r\nThank you again for helping make this possible. These touchscreen computers are not just tools, they are windows to learning, independence, and joy. My students and I are so grateful for your kindness and support.","fullyFundedDate":1736550974152,"projectUrl":"project/empowering-special-learners-with-touchsc/8986992/","projectTitle":"Empowering Special Learners with Touchscreen Technology","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Vasquez","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp3173672_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1517432156117","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3173672"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_43179","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":515,"numTeachers":34,"percentFrplEligible":73,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":47,"percentWhite":1,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":49,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"15.1:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":66.7,"schoolId":43179,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Dr William A Chapman Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Dr William A Chapman Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/florida/miami-dade-county-public-schools/william-a-chapman-elementary-school/43179"}
