Each day, our students step outside and their eyes light up with joy. The playground has quickly become a favorite place where they can learn, explore, and grow.\r\n\r\nOur students are engaged in meaningful play that supports learning, including STEM activities that encourage creativity, problem-solving, and collaboration. They enjoy using sensory balls, scoops, and dump trucks with the rubber mulch, creating opportunities for hands-on discovery and imaginative play. They eagerly climb on the new play structure, prepare imaginative meals in the outdoor kitchen, and express their creativity through art on the outdoor easel.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has provided our students with a safe, engaging, and enriching outdoor environment. We are grateful for the opportunities this playground offers and for the positive impact it has on our children's daily experiences. Many of my students use sensory supports to help them stay regulated, focused, and engaged during therapy activities. The younger students especially enjoy incorporating the new toys into language-based play, which creates natural opportunities for communication, social interaction, and vocabulary development. These materials have helped make therapy sessions more motivating and enjoyable while supporting important speech and language goals.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the new materials, they were incredibly excited. They eagerly explored the sensory toys and were enthusiastic about trying the new activities. The excitement created an immediate increase in participation and engagement. Several students asked to use the toys during therapy tasks, which provided opportunities to practice requesting in a meaningful way.\r\n\r\nAs we continue our work this year, the new resources will be incorporated into a variety of speech and language lessons. Students will use the sensory tools to support attention and self-regulation during learning activities, while the play-based materials will be used to target language development, social communication, problem-solving, and conversational skills. These resources will continue to enhance our therapy sessions and provide students with engaging, hands-on learning experiences. We are incredibly grateful for the generosity of our donors and the positive difference these materials are making for our students.","fullyFundedDate":1774108392044,"projectUrl":"project/supporting-communication-through-sensory/10100067/","projectTitle":"Supporting Communication Through Sensory Play","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Stephanie Boyd","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp2918615_orig.jpg?crop=750,750,x0,y197&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1631634710081","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/stephanieboyd"},{"teacherId":1980231,"projectId":9184192,"letterContent":"I wanted to take a moment to sincerely thank you for helping make our Family Fun Night such a success. The experience didn't just end that night—many families shared how much they continued talking about it in the weeks that followed.\r\nNot only did the event bring joy in the moment, but it also gave each child a meaningful keepsake they can cherish for years to come.
