The excitement on their faces when we opened the boxes was unforgettable. It honestly felt like Christmas in our classroom. Each student got to pick one of the new books to be the first reader, and it was amazing to see how engaged they were right from the start. The \"Who Is/Was\" series especially hooked them! They loved learning about influential people, and I plan to tie these biographies into our Personal Narrative unit as mentor texts, next school year. It's a great way to blend informational reading with writing, and to connect students with real people they admire.\r\n\r\nReading in our classroom is all about choice, connection, and confidence. These new books helped even my more hesitant readers find something they were excited to read. They practiced important skills like summarizing, identifying key details, and using text features, all while exploring topics they genuinely care about.\r\n\r\nThe STEM materials were a huge hit as well as students couldn't wait to explore them. They were so respectful and careful with the materials, and they often asked to use them during early finisher time. Watching their excitement, creativity, and curiosity grow has been one of the highlights of my year. Thank you so much for helping make this possible! Your generosity brought so much joy and learning into our classroom!","fullyFundedDate":1746785674895,"projectUrl":"project/books-and-bins-building-readers-think/9299518/","projectTitle":"Books and Bins: Building Readers & Thinkers","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Case","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10009417_orig.jpg?crop=1815,1815,x0,y369&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1746105039237","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10009417"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_20915","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":112,"numTeachers":24,"percentFrplEligible":80,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":93,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":6,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"4.7:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":100.0,"schoolId":20915,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Whitesville Central School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Whitesville Central School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-york/whitesville-central-school-district/whitesville-central-school/20915"}
