For the AP class, students are required to read an equal amount of pre-twentieth century literature and twentieth/ twenty-first literature. On the exam they must answer 100 multiple choice questions on literature from across literary history. Then they have two hours to write three literary analysis essays.\r\n\r\nThe first essay is a poetry analysis essay. The second is prose analysis. In each case, students are given a short selection to analyze for specific details. The third question, however, features a prompt on a universal device or theme and then asks the student to answer based on a novel or drama that they have studied in depth. In order to successfully answer this question, students need a wide reading experience. The novels and plays purchased by your donations help to provide access to quality reading materials that students can use to craft a thoughtful response to this open question.\r\n\r\nInvisible Man by Ralph Ellison and Othello by Shakespeare are among the most frequently cited works on the AP exam. The class sets of these works allow us to study these together in class. The other novels and plays are also often used on the AP exam and having them in the classroom allows students to read them for Individual Reading assignments. (They are doing these every 6 weeks in my class.)\r\n\r\nYour donation is important and influential in the lives of our AP Literature students. You have laid a huge paving stone on their pathway to success.","fullyFundedDate":1755719982805,"projectUrl":"project/ap-literature-preparation/9445116/","projectTitle":"AP Literature Preparation","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Thayne","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7642142_orig.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1751570327450","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mrs-thayne"},{"teacherId":8724208,"projectId":9396058,"letterContent":"On behalf of the Wharton High School Band program, I would like to extend our heartfelt thanks for your generous support. Your donations made it possible for us to purchase binders, sheet protectors, laminating sheets, and baggage tags, items that may seem small but have made an enormous impact on the way our students stay organized, prepared, and proud of their work.\r\n\r\nOur band students immediately put these materials to use. The binders and sheet protectors have become personalized music command centers, holding everything from warm ups and scales to our performance music. Using the laminating sheets, students created durable stand tune folders, a project that brought the group together as they assembled and labeled their folders with pride. The new baggage tags have helped students identify and care for their instrument cases, promoting responsibility and professionalism.\r\n\r\nThe excitement was immediate when the supplies arrived. Students eagerly unpacked the boxes, and many commented that it feels like we are a real college band now. Seeing their pride and enthusiasm reminded us that your contribution does more than provide materials; it reinforces a sense of unity, belonging, and purpose within our program.\r\n\r\nCurrently, we are preparing for our upcoming winter concert season, where these organized materials are helping students focus more on musicianship and less on logistics. Having durable, labeled, and well-maintained materials ensures that rehearsals run smoothly, allowing us to spend more time refining our sound and less time searching for missing music.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has truly elevated our classroom experience. From our young musicians to our dedicated staff, thank you for believing in the power of music education and for supporting the Wharton High School Band family.","fullyFundedDate":1752586525926,"projectUrl":"project/organized-prepared-and-ready-to-perfor/9396058/","projectTitle":"Organized, Prepared, and Ready to Perform: Supporting Wharton Marching Band!","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Espinoza","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8724208"},{"teacherId":7642142,"projectId":9444351,"letterContent":"Everyday students in my classes begin their day by writing to vocabulary or answering quick-write prompts in the composition books your donations provided. The students can highlight their textbooks and edit and revise their essays with the highlighters you made possible.\r\n\r\nThanks to your contributions these students are producing some of the best writing of their lives.
