Teachers have noticed that students are returning to class activities more quickly, ready to focus and participate.\r\n\r\nThese calm down corners are helping students build lifelong coping skills—choosing calm instead of conflict, and regulation instead of shutdown. I think providing them an inviting environment in which to learn is crucial. Thanks to my projects I now have a colorful rug and visions, along with new bookshelves and books. I am so very excited. This will give students the confidence they need as beginning readers. \r\n\r\nI strive to help them develop a love for learning and reading! I feel if they develop a love for reading at an early age it will carry over as they get older. I have been able to create a calm down corner with the calming toys and the Play-Doh. The calm down corner has been successful in my classroom. Thanks to you I have been able to create a safe space where my students can reflect on their feelings. Students are able to calm down in this corner before they join the rest of my class. Once they join us, they are ready to work on the assignments.\r\nI have been able to use the white boards and Lakeshore items with my newcomers. I have seen so much growth with my newcomers. I am excited to see how much more they learn. \r\nMy students were very thankful and excited when they saw the items.
