For many students, this was their first time seeing their own designs come to life as physical objects. The printer has transformed our classroom into a true makerspace, where students can move from concept to creation while learning real-world engineering and design skills. They now understand that technology isn't just something you use, it's something you can create with.\r\n\r\nThe most exciting part for students has been watching their digital designs turn into tangible models they can hold, test, and improve. They've used the printer to prototype robot parts, design custom tools, and even create personalized keychains and decorations. This hands-on process makes abstract concepts like measurement, scaling, and iteration come alive in a way that lectures never could. Every print sparks curiosity and inspires new ideas for what's possible.\r\n\r\nOne student in particular, who usually prefers to work quietly and hesitantly, has really warmed to the 3D printer. He started by printing simple shapes but quickly began designing his own multi-part models. Now, he confidently shares his creations with the class and even helps troubleshoot for other students. It's been amazing to see his confidence grow alongside his technical skills. Thanks to you, our students aren't just learning about technology, they're creating with it, and that's a gift that will last far beyond this school year.","fullyFundedDate":1744061943862,"projectUrl":"project/empowering-student-innovation-with-3d-pr/9120474/","projectTitle":"Empowering Student Innovation With 3D Printing","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Paredes","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-6_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9927010"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_131008","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":null,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":61,"percentAsian":21,"percentBlack":17,"percentWhite":12,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":31,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Not specified","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR District Record","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"UNCLASSIFIED","ncesMetroType":null},"inStateSupporters":0.0,"schoolId":131008,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Westlake Charter School - High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Westlake Charter School - High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/natomas-unified-school-district/westlake-charter-school-high-school/131008"}
