We used the new resources throughout our science class to support science fair and research projects, where 67 students conducted research and successfully submitted completed projects. Students developed questions, carried out investigations, analyzed data, and created presentations to share their findings. One standout moment was watching students confidently explain their work as they presented their projects to a panel of judges using scientific vocabulary, visual displays, and evidence to defend their conclusions like real scientists.\r\nWhen students first saw the materials, their excitement was immediate. They were eager to explore, experiment, and begin planning their projects. Many students expressed pride in having \"real\" science materials, which helped them take ownership of their learning and raised their expectations for what they could accomplish. The resources made science feel hands-on, authentic, and meaningful.\r\nAs a result of this project, six students advanced to the district-level competition, and two students earned the opportunity to move on to the state-level competition. Moving forward, students will continue building on these research skills by asking deeper questions, refining their investigations, and applying what they learned to future science lessons and projects. This experience has laid a strong foundation for developing confident, curious, and capable young scientists. Thank you for making this opportunity possible for my students.","fullyFundedDate":1733260867273,"projectUrl":"project/building-our-stem-identityour-way/8543487/","projectTitle":"Building Our Stem Identity...OUR Way!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Darville","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp3663149_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1467679103991","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3663149"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_17533","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":183,"numTeachers":20,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":96,"percentWhite":0,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":1,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"8 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"9.2:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_FRINGE"},"inStateSupporters":50.9,"schoolId":17533,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about West St John High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"West St John High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/louisiana/st-john-the-baptist-parish-sd/west-st-john-high-school/17533"}
