With each box that arrived, my students were eagerly awaiting to see what was inside. They could not believe all the new books that came in. The books have been flying off the shelves! In fact for some of the books, I have to have a waiting list.\r\n My classroom is made up of students of various reading levels. I have students who are beginning readers to advanced level readers, first-grade level to sixth-grade level. For the students who are struggling readers, graphic novels allow them to read a high-interest text with support. They can use the pictures to help them comprehend the text. There are not as many words on a page, so the students don't get frustrated as easily. Even the advanced readers enjoy reading them, so it doesn't make the struggling readers stand out for picking an easier text to read. This year, many of my students have shown interest in Greek mythology. I did not have many books for them to choose from. Through the project, I was able to add books to my collection on Greek mythology. The students have really enjoyed reading them and are very appreciative of the donations. \r\n All the new books are the most requested books in the room.
