They have worked so hard this year, and this celebration gives us an opportunity to pause, celebrate their accomplishments, and enjoy time together as a classroom family.\r\n\r\nThe party favors was a special part of our celebration and gave each student something to take home as a reminder of their first-grade year. We enjoyed our ice cream, celebrate our memories, and recognize the progress each student has made.\r\n\r\nAs we got closer to the end of the school year, our next steps was to finish strong, continue learning, and prepare for the transition to second grade. Guys, the materials you donated are a blessing! Opening these boxes is like Christmas in the classroom. My students are excited about the materials we received. Primarily, they enjoy the books. These students are truly thankful for all that they receive in the classroom. \r\n\r\nThe binders, the folders, the headphones are all part of the bigger academic plan. A sharp pencil helps us write our name, date, spelling words, sentences and little stories. All that we have received, we truly appreciate! Our students are gearing up for a great fall semester and reading is a big part of our morning activities. The students are so excited about reading the new books. Although I can't post pictures of our students, I will post a few pictures of a few of the materials we received. We are also right in the middle of receiving our new bluebonnet curriculum, so our classroom is filled with literature and books.\r\n\r\nThe students are also enjoying the new pencil sharpener. You should see their faces when the sharpener takes the pencil, sharpens it, and then pushes it back out on its own. At the end of the day, the students all grab Lysol wipes and wipe down tables and chairs, it's part of their daily routine. The headphones are a blessing and will be for a long time; they help keep the classroom quiet during reading activities on the computer. My students make independent choices based on their reading background. A student may pick any book based on their own knowledge of what the cover may look like. We set goals on story telling time at the end of each week so that students can share what they have read.\r\n\r\nIt is a difficult task but a most enjoyable reward once a student understands that reading is FUNdamental. The sharing of what they read is exciting to watch. There are times when we must read together, group reading, that a student may become shy of their reading skills. It was so very nice to have these things to start the year off and not have to spend my own money to purchase them. \r\n\r\nWe use the folders daily to take home their work and important notes to their parents. I also record their behavior for each day.\r\n\r\nWe use the headphones daily when they log onto the Chromebook to work on their phonics program. They are also able to use them during play centers if they choose to play a learning game.
