This portable system allows users to collect, store, filter, and dispense water for essential needs such as drinking, washing, and sanitation. By offering a simple, personal, and mobile solution, CarryClear addresses a critical gap faced by many individuals who lack consistent access to safe water, especially those outside the reach of fixed public hygiene facilities.\r\nIn Los Angeles County, tens of thousands of people experience homelessness, many struggling with limited or poor-quality water access. This lack of sanitation contributes to significant health challenges, including skin infections and the spread of diseases such as hepatitis A. While existing services like mobile wash stations provide some support, they are often restricted to certain areas and cannot meet the needs of everyone. CarryClear overcomes these limitations by giving individuals the ability to maintain hygiene wherever they are, while also offering a level of privacy not available in public facilities.\r\nBy integrating water collection, filtration, storage, and dispensing into one portable system, CarryClear promotes safer and more consistent hygiene practices. This has the potential to reduce sanitation-related illnesses by as much as 15%, improving overall health outcomes within unhoused communities. Better hygiene not only supports physical well-being but also boosts confidence and dignity, empowering individuals to pursue more stable living conditions.\r\nIn conclusion, CarryClear offers a practical, scalable solution to a pressing issue. By addressing both immediate hygiene needs and long-term opportunities for stability, it has the potential to create lasting positive change, with possibilities that extend far beyond its initial impact.","fullyFundedDate":1773198274601,"projectUrl":"project/carry-clear/10023674/","projectTitle":"Carry Clear","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Thu Nguyen ( Marcia Kim)","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10404804"},{"teacherId":10235432,"projectId":9670284,"letterContent":"Thank you for your support! Because of your donations, nearly 20 at-risk students are attending tutoring this year with the supplies they need to feel prepared and motivated to learn. Students received calendars for the 2025–2026 school year, dry erase boards, pencils, and pens, and they were absolutely thrilled. Many opened their packages immediately and began using their whiteboards during tutoring sessions, which brought an exciting and energizing start to the program.\r\n\r\nYour support has helped us build a strong and meaningful tutoring program that truly reaches students who need academic help the most. Students are being supported by both teachers and their peers in subjects they are struggling with, and the impact is already clear. Students report completing and submitting assignments on time, and many have even caught up on make-up work. In addition to group tutoring, I have also been able to provide one-on-one support to students in my classroom, allowing us to meet individual needs more closely.\r\n\r\nMoving forward, my colleagues and I will continue to ensure that students' time in after-school tutoring is purposeful and effective. We are committed to helping students strengthen the foundational academic skills they need to be successful in their core classes. None of this would be possible without your generosity. Thank you for investing in our students, believing in their potential, and helping us expand a program that is already making a meaningful difference.","fullyFundedDate":1759429725848,"projectUrl":"project/supporting-students-after-school-succes/9674445/","projectTitle":"Supporting Students' After School Success","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Kahlon","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10237506"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_30466","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":1798,"numTeachers":81,"percentFrplEligible":32,"percentAsian":38,"percentBlack":4,"percentWhite":21,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":24,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"22.2:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_MIDSIZE"},"inStateSupporters":86.6,"schoolId":30466,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about West High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"West High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/torrance-unified-school-district/west-high-school/30466"}
