Your contributions brought great quality decodables into our classroom. We used these decodables in small group with our most struggling readers. Our students' confidence immediately increased as they held a book they could read. Our students began enjoying small group and looked forward to getting a chance to read books they felt capable of reading. We saw tremendous growth in their decoding skills and spelling. \r\n\r\nWe also used these books in a new activity we titled buddy reading. We paired up with a third grade class. The third graders came in our classroom and listened to each student read a decodable. The third graders coached if their were any difficulties decoding. The third grader also led the first grader in the phonemic awareness activities at the back of the book. \r\n\r\nWe greatly appreciate your generosity and how you have supported each and every one of our students.","fullyFundedDate":1760327412478,"projectUrl":"project/decodables-for-first-graders/9813311/","projectTitle":"Decodables for First Graders","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. McAllister","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7544377"},{"teacherId":10030225,"projectId":9338520,"letterContent":"I would like to sincerely thank you for funding my DonorsChoose project, Math in Motion. Through your generosity, my classroom received a variety of resources, including multiple sets of dice, engaging math games, organizational bins, and whiteboards. These materials have already had a tremendous impact on my students' learning.\r\n\r\nWith these tools, I have been able to create more interactive and collaborative small-group activities. My students are excited to participate in math each day, and I have seen their confidence grow as they engage with new games and hands-on practice. The addition of these resources has not only strengthened their math skills but has also fostered teamwork, problem-solving, and a love for learning.\r\n\r\nYour support has transformed the way I am able to teach math, making it more engaging, accessible, and fun for all of my students. I was truly floored by your generosity and kindness in supporting the entire project. Thanks to you, we were able to purchase the items for our calming cube, which has already proven to be incredibly effective.\r\n\r\n Our calming cube is used multiple times a day by students who struggle with emotional self-regulation. It has been especially helpful since we returned from winter break, particularly for students who have difficulty leaving their parents in the morning. The cube provides them with a cozy place that eases their transition.\r\n\r\n For our students with special learning needs, it has become an invaluable tool for self-regulation. Charlie, the weighted Hugimal, is a favorite tool of one of our students when he feels distressed. While he does not yet have the ability to communicate when he needs pressure to calm him, having access to Charlie allows him to find comfort without needing to say a single word.\r\n\r\n Your kindness is truly making a meaningful impact on their lives.
