The new flexible seating options — including stools and carpet cushions — have brought energy, comfort, and choice to our learning space. My students use them daily during small-group instruction, independent reading, and collaborative work. It's been amazing to see how having the ability to choose where and how they learn best has boosted their focus and engagement.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, the excitement was contagious! Students were eager to test out every seat, comparing which ones helped them \"think better\" or \"read longer.\" One student told me, \"It feels like our classroom is a cozy library now!\" Their enthusiasm reminded me just how powerful these small changes can be in helping students take ownership of their learning.\r\n\r\nRight now, we're diving into a STEM project on animal habitats. The flexible seating has made group collaboration so much easier — students naturally gather in different spots to share research, create habitats, and collaborate. It's wonderful to see them moving, talking, and learning with purpose.\r\n\r\nYour generosity didn't just provide new furniture — it created a more dynamic, student-centered classroom where learning feels exciting and comfortable. My students have been able to use the new materials for STEM tasks such as building a bridge, building a house that the Big Bad Wolf could not blow down, and practicing writing words out of these materials. My students were so excited to see all the STEM bins they would be able to use this school year. Our LEGO package came after the school year began and the students begged to have STEM bin time so they could enjoy their new and I had two boys in particular that LOVE building with legos. The other day they created a whole neighborhood using a box of legos! \r\n Our STEM bins have given my students the chance to explore, create, and innovate. My school is currently in the process of becoming a STEM School of Distinction and having STEM bins available for them to explore and create is an essential part of our students becoming engineers. Through building and innovating, students are able to apply concepts that they might not yet have a full understanding of, but are relevant to STEM tasks. They have had to apply concepts of balance, force and motion, pattern, logic, teamwork, and communication. Because of your donation, my students will be able to experience STEM at an early age which could put them on the trajectory to a STEM career!","fullyFundedDate":1750193133254,"projectUrl":"project/stem-exploration/9411132/","projectTitle":"STEM Exploration","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Jones","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10055170_orig.jpg?crop=1179,1179,x0,y314&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1749746969119","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10055170"},{"teacherId":10056030,"projectId":9413040,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your donation to our classroom. Your contributions are not just funding equipment, but empowering young minds to explore and create new ways of solving problems.\r\n\r\nIncorporating whiteboards into our classrooms has transformed the way students engage with lessons. They are using them to work collaboratively to solve problems. Instead of passively receiving knowledge, they are becoming active participants in their own learning journey. For example, students can work in groups of 4 or 3, they are given different problems to solve and work as a team to find solutions. They really enjoy doing this, because they can share their ideas and are able to construct their own strategies. They feel very engaged and motivated.\r\nIn addition, the use of headphones has been a game-changer for many students. These headphones help them focus and immerse themselves in their assignments, creating a quieter, more personalized learning environment. For some students, the ability to listen to assignments or instructions without distractions has been invaluable, allowing them to better absorb and understand the material. They are loving every experience and becoming engaged in every single lesson. \r\n\r\nThanks to your support, we've created a learning environment where students feel empowered, inspired, and excited to learn. The new equipment is not just enhancing traditional lessons, but also fostering curiosity, creativity, and collaboration. As we continue to integrate and explore these tools, we are witnessing remarkable growth in both academic performance and confidence.
