Thanks to your generous donation, social emotional learning in our classroom has really made an impact. Our students look forward to these lessons every week and are using the skills they learn every day. They have been given the language and skills they need to express how they're feeling, identify what they need to feel better, and engage with their peers appropriately. It truly has been a joy to witness. \r\n One of my favorite moments with this curriculum has been when a first grade student who is minimally verbal started drawing pictures of the various \"spots\" to share how he was feeling. It took us a minute to catch on to what his different colored scribbles meant, but once we did, it opened up a whole new world to him. He has been able to communicate in a way that he wasn't able to before and it has made such a huge difference for him. Many meltdowns and hard moments have been avoided because he could let us know in his own way what he needed. He enjoys school now and is thriving all because he was given the tools to communicate with us. \r\n He's not the only student that has made positive growth because of your gift. On any given day, you can walk into our classroom and see or hear students using the skills we've been learning through this curriculum. They are showing empathy to their peers, advocating for themselves, and finding ways to regulate their emotions. Our classroom has become a happier, more intentional space for all types of learning.
