I am incredibly grateful for everything we received because these resources are already being used in multiple ways throughout our school day.\r\nOne of the biggest needs in our classroom was additional math manipulatives. Base-ten blocks can be expensive, especially when trying to have enough for students to use during small groups and independent practice, so I was especially excited to receive both the magnetic and traditional base-ten blocks. My students are currently working on place value, addition, and subtraction, and having these materials allows them to physically build numbers and model their thinking instead of relying only on pencil-and-paper work.\r\nWe also received a new classroom timer, which has already been extremely helpful. I have two students whose IEPs include the use of timers as a support, so having a large, easy-to-see timer available in the classroom has helped me provide that accommodation more consistently. It has also been useful for the entire class during independent work, transitions, and timed activities.\r\nThe STEM materials have quickly become some of my students' favorite new resources. The magnetic tiles, pipe-building set, connecting blocks, and STEM challenge cards give students opportunities to build, create, and solve problems. They have made indoor recess much easier and more purposeful, and I have also been able to use the STEM challenges as an extension activity for students who are ready for an additional challenge after completing their academic work. I love that they can have fun while still practicing creativity, critical thinking, and perseverance.\r\nWe were also fortunate to receive a collection of nonfiction books, and I was excited to discover that all of them have Accelerated Reader quizzes available! My students have been reading the books, taking AR quizzes, and earning points toward their reading goals. It has been wonderful to add engaging nonfiction choices to our classroom library while also supporting their comprehension and reading practice.\r\nOur next step is to continue incorporating these resources into our everyday routines. The base-ten blocks will continue to support our upcoming math skills, the STEM challenge cards will provide increasingly challenging opportunities for students to design and problem-solve, and our new books will continue helping students work toward their AR goals.\r\nThank you again for investing in my students and our classroom.
