Because of your kindness, my second grade class of 24 students had the opportunity to build their very own Bluetooth speakers. Students carefully followed step-by-step instructions and picture guides to assemble each component, learning how the different parts work together to produce sound. This hands-on experience helped them understand technology in a meaningful way. Instead of simply using a device, students were able to explore how it works, strengthening their problem-solving, reading comprehension, and critical thinking skills as they built their speakers.\r\n\r\nThe most exciting part for students was hearing their speakers work for the very first time. The moment the music played and the speakers connected easily to our devices, the classroom filled with smiles and excitement. Many students were amazed that they had built something that actually worked. They were incredibly proud of their accomplishment and could not wait to take their speakers home to show their families. For many of them, this was a completely new experience that showed them they are capable of building and understanding technology at a young age.\r\n\r\nI teach in a low-income neighborhood where not all families can afford technology, and some students have never owned a speaker before because of the high cost. Your donations made it possible for every student to have this opportunity. Several students who are usually quiet in class became leaders during the project, helping their classmates read the instructions and connect the parts. Seeing their confidence grow was truly special. This project raised the bar for what my students believe they can learn and create, and it would not have been possible without your generosity. Thank you for making such a meaningful difference in our classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1765760728300,"projectUrl":"project/little-engineers-big-ideas-help-second/9910942/","projectTitle":"Little Engineers, Big Ideas: Help Second Graders Build Bluetooth Speakers","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Valencia","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp4977418_orig.jpg?crop=927,927,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1700091226513","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/teachermrvalencia"},{"teacherId":4977418,"projectId":9905546,"letterContent":"Our second grade class of 24 students has been so excited to begin using the new Legos and magnetic tiles during our STEM and play-based learning activities. One memorable moment happened during a building challenge when small groups of students worked together to design and build \"strong bridges\" using the materials. As they built, they talked through their ideas, tested different designs, and made changes when something didn't work. I loved walking around the room observing their teamwork and asking questions about their thinking. These conversations helped me better understand how they problem-solve, plan, and learn from one another.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the Legos and magnetic tiles, their reactions were priceless. Many of them had never had the opportunity to use materials like these before, and they were thrilled. There were cheers, big smiles, and so much excitement as they began exploring and creating. Almost immediately, students started sharing ideas and inviting classmates to join their builds. It was wonderful to see how naturally they collaborated and encouraged each other while working with the materials.\r\n\r\nNext, I plan to introduce more structured STEM challenges where students will work in teams to solve problems together. For example, they might design the tallest tower, create a structure that can hold a certain weight, or build a model of a community building. These challenges will encourage creativity, teamwork, and critical thinking. Thanks to your support, my students now have engaging tools that inspire collaboration, curiosity, and hands-on learning every day.","fullyFundedDate":1765760728603,"projectUrl":"project/bright-builders-boosting-creativity-ski/9905546/","projectTitle":"Bright Builders: Boosting Creativity Skills with LEGO & Tiles","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Valencia","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp4977418_orig.jpg?crop=927,927,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1700091226513","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/teachermrvalencia"},{"teacherId":4977418,"projectId":9664990,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generous donations, my second grade class of 24 students was able to bring our flex seating project to life. Your support helped us purchase relaxing chair bands, colorful comfy floor seats, and colorful floor working tables. These resources have quickly become an important part of our classroom, and my students use them every single day. The chair bands help students focus and quietly fidget while they work, especially during independent work and tests. One moment that stood out was during a recent test when students used the seat bands to move their feet and release energy without making noise or distracting others, helping them stay focused and do their best work.\r\n\r\nDuring math time, my students especially enjoy using the colorful floor seats and tables to work together and collaborate on math problems. The flexible seating allows us to break away from our traditional desks and chairs and gives students a chance to learn in different ways. When the students first saw the materials, they were incredibly excited. Since we received four colorful comfy chairs, we created a system where students take turns each day so that everyone has a chance to use them. The class loves when it is their group's turn to sit in the comfy seats.\r\n\r\nOur next steps are to continue using our floor tables and flexible seating to support collaboration and discussion in the classroom. Our school recently launched the AVID program, and we plan to begin using our flexible seating during Socratic seminars where students will discuss a variety of topics, share ideas, and listen to one another. Your generosity has helped create a classroom environment where students feel comfortable, engaged, and excited to learn. The new resources have allowed us to introduce pickleball in a meaningful, hands-on way, giving students regular opportunities to practice, play, and build confidence while staying active.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, the students were thrilled to see all the new equipment, even though most of them had never heard of pickleball before. One of the highlights of this project has been watching their excitement grow as they learned the game. Students often come to me eager to share how much they love pickleball, and many proudly talk about how their skills have improved since the first day we started. Seeing their enthusiasm and willingness to challenge themselves has been incredibly rewarding.\r\n\r\nThe goal of this project was to expose students to a different sport they might not have experienced otherwise, and thanks to you, that goal has truly been met.
