Because of your kindness, we received a brand-new classroom calendar, highlighters, clipboards, and dry erase markers. These supplies may seem simple, but to my students, they have already made a big difference in their daily learning.\r\n\r\nThe excitement in the room when the box arrived was unforgettable. My students crowded around as I carefully opened it, eager to see what was inside. Their faces lit up as they realized the items were for them to use every day. One student exclaimed, \"We get our own clipboards?!\" while another quickly asked if they could try out the new highlighters right away. That moment of joy and curiosity set the tone for how meaningful your donation truly is.\r\n\r\nThe classroom calendar has already become the heart of our morning routine. Each day, students take turns updating the date, tracking the days of school, and reviewing important events. It has given them a sense of responsibility and ownership, while also supporting their learning in math and time concepts. The visual routine also helps keep our class organized and focused as we start the day.\r\n\r\nThe clipboards have been especially helpful during small-group and independent work. Students love grabbing one to complete assignments around the room, whether they're sitting on the carpet, working with partners, or moving through math stations. It has given them flexibility and freedom to learn in ways that are comfortable and engaging.\r\n\r\nHighlighters have become a favorite tool for reading and writing. My students eagerly use them to mark main ideas, highlight important vocabulary, and organize their thoughts. They are learning strategies that make them feel like \"real readers\" and confident learners. The dry erase markers have also been put to good use during math practice and quick checks for understanding. Students enjoy showing their thinking on whiteboards and love the instant feedback this routine allows.\r\n\r\nOn behalf of my students and myself, thank you for giving us the tools to learn, grow, and thrive together.","fullyFundedDate":1755736532765,"projectUrl":"project/organized-minds-bright-futures/9453336/","projectTitle":"Organized Minds, Bright Futures","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Markey","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp5704570_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1534452650643","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/5704570"},{"teacherId":5704570,"projectId":9406409,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for the incredible donation to my classroom. Because of your generosity, my students are now able to engage in social studies and science using Scholastic News as a meaningful resource. This gift has already made a lasting difference in the way my students experience learning, and I am so grateful.\r\n\r\nScholastic News has transformed the way my students connect to the world. Instead of only relying on textbooks, they now have access to current events and real-world stories written in a way that is engaging and age-appropriate. This has sparked excitement, curiosity, and conversations that extend well beyond the classroom. Students have begun to see how the things we study are relevant to their daily lives.\r\n\r\nIn science, my class was especially drawn to articles about environmental issues and kids making a difference in their own communities. They were inspired by the idea that children just like them could have an impact, which led to thoughtful discussions about recycling, planting pollinator-friendly flowers, and even encouraging their families to conserve water. It was clear that Scholastic News didn't just provide information—it encouraged my students to think about their own role in making the world a better place.\r\n\r\nBeyond the content, Scholastic News has been a huge boost to literacy. Students practice reading nonfiction texts, analyzing features such as captions and charts, and building vocabulary. I've seen their confidence grow as they tackle challenging passages and use text evidence to support their thinking. The articles naturally lead to writing prompts and classroom discussions, which has strengthened both their speaking and writing skills.\r\n\r\nYour donation made it possible to give every student in my class a resource that blends reading, science, and social studies in a meaningful way. Without it, I would not have been able to provide such consistent, high-quality materials. The result has been stronger comprehension, deeper engagement, and greater enthusiasm for learning.\r\n\r\nBecause of your generosity, my students are not just learning facts—they are learning how to think critically, ask questions, and see themselves as capable of making a difference. Thank you for believing in their potential and giving them the tools to grow into informed and thoughtful citizens. The impact of your gift will carry forward well beyond this school year.","fullyFundedDate":1751715692521,"projectUrl":"project/scholastic-news-helping-teach-social-stu/9406409/","projectTitle":"Scholastic News Helping Teach Social Studies & Science","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Markey","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp5704570_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1534452650643","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/5704570"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_44184","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":197,"numTeachers":18,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":19,"percentWhite":25,"percentIndigenous":1,"percentLatinx":45,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"10.9:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_SMALL"},"inStateSupporters":67.9,"schoolId":44184,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Wequonnoc Arts & Technical Magnet School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Wequonnoc Arts & Technical Magnet School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/connecticut/norwich-public-schools/wequonnoc-elementary-school/44184"}
