Our students have benefitted greatly this year from these new materials. Expanding our collections of these STEM and active movement materials has allowed students to play together in groups more, which supports them in developing their social skills. \r\n As you can see in the pictures, our students have taken great strides in starting to play together in groups of two, three, and sometimes even four. Over the past several months since starting to use these larger sets of materials, our students have greatly advanced in their level of interaction and cooperative play. For autistic students, this is a big step in social development which serves them in so many areas, both today and throughout their future. It is beautiful to see our students - who began the year barely seeming to notice their peers - developing true friendships with each other and experiencing the real joy of playing interactively with each other. This type of interactive play also stimulates their language development, a major area of challenge for all of our students. \r\n I also want to say that I am sorry for the delay in uploading this letter and pictures - the needs of our class are very demanding and I wish to communicate that the delay in sending this update was entirely due to the cumulative challenges of serving our students, and not at all to a lack of gratitude.","fullyFundedDate":1764684738677,"projectUrl":"project/primary-rise-autism-stemsel-play-mat/9898949/","projectTitle":"Primary RISE (Autism) STEM/SEL Play Materials","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Sarah","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10308465"},{"teacherId":8477718,"projectId":9417035,"letterContent":"This project has had an incredible impact on our classroom, creating a foundation where my curious and eager learners feel fully equipped to succeed. Students are now actively participating in small group work with excitement, receiving immediate feedback that helps them grow as readers and thinkers. Meanwhile, having their own organized folders, book pouches, and reliable writing tools has instilled a new sense of pride in their work; they now come to class prepared and ready to tackle any challenge.\r\n\r\nPerhaps most importantly, the new headphones have been transformative for our digital learning time, providing the quiet focus needed for every student to work at their own pace without distraction. These tools have become much more than just rewards; they are meaningful motivators that help students stay focused, regulated, and calm during challenging learning tasks. By offering these choices, I have seen a noticeable shift in student engagement—they are more eager to persevere through difficult lessons, and they take genuine pride in earning these incentives through their hard work and positive choices.\r\n\r\nMost importantly, this project has strengthened our classroom community. Watching my students celebrate each other's successes and use these tools to support their own self-regulation has been incredibly rewarding. Meanwhile, the shift toward flexible seating has empowered students to choose the environment—whether at a table, on the floor, or in a quiet nook—that allows them to focus and perform at their best.\r\n\r\nThese tools have also been a game-changer for independent work and testing. Students now have the autonomy to work at their own pace, utilizing the new storage solutions to keep their supplies organized and accessible. The ability to create individual, distraction-free testing zones has removed the anxiety of being overlooked, allowing students to focus entirely on demonstrating their knowledge. By providing this personalized support, we have created a space where every student feels secure in their ability to learn, test, and grow in the way that works best for them.","fullyFundedDate":1661392796866,"projectUrl":"project/help-my-student-reach-their-goals/6735693/","projectTitle":"Help My Student Reach Their Goals","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Medlin","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8477718_orig.jpg?crop=958,958,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1656363912934","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8477718"},{"teacherId":9608262,"projectId":10184138,"letterContent":"\nClothing resources provided through Donors choose will be available to support students in ","fullyFundedDate":1775682410479,"projectUrl":"project/providing-essential-clothing-for-student/10184138/","projectTitle":"Providing Essential Clothing for Students in Need","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Laurie Brandt","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-2_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/theschoolnurse-laderose"},{"teacherId":10475144,"projectId":10181830,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for providing to the health office at Webster Elementary. One especially powerful classroom moment has been watching students use the microscopes to closely observe insect features while practicing new descriptive words.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, students were absolutely elated—they eagerly gathered around the table, excited to participate in the activities I had prepared. The kinetic sand and microscopes quickly became favorites, sparking curiosity and sustained engagement.\r\n\r\nAs we move forward, students will wrap up this project by exploring insect habitats and continuing to use the microscopes to magnify and identify different insect parts.
