Your kindness made it possible for our students to transform an idea into a living, growing system.\r\n\r\nWith your support, students were able to gather and prepare materials, plant seeds, and carefully monitor the growth of the plants over the past month. Watching their hard work take root and flourish has been an inspiring, hands-on learning experience for everyone involved. This project has not only strengthened their understanding of science and sustainability but has also sparked curiosity, teamwork, and a deep sense of responsibility.\r\n\r\nThis meaningful experience simply would not have been possible without your generosity. Your generosity has brought more than just books into our preschool classroom—you've brought joy, imagination, and learning to life.\r\n\r\nAs someone who loves books, you already understand the magic of getting lost in a great story. In preschool, that magic also comes with important early learning skills. With these new books, my students are developing foundational skills like how to hold a book, turn pages carefully, and follow the direction of text from left to right. They're learning to recognize letters, notice rhyming patterns, and make predictions based on pictures—skills that are essential for becoming strong readers later on.\r\n\r\nReading in our classroom happens all day, in many joyful ways. We start our mornings with a read-aloud, where students sit wide-eyed on the carpet and help tell the story through their voices, faces, and questions. During center time, they curl up with a favorite book in our cozy library—some alone, some in pairs, often pointing to pictures and telling their own versions of the story. It's not just quiet time—it's growing time.\r\n\r\nSome books have become fast favorites. One student, Eva, loves \"The Gingerbread Man\" and proudly \"reads\" it to her friends from memory, pointing to each animal and giggling as she goes. Another student, Royce, who was initially hesitant to pick up books, now asks for \"just one more story\" every day during rest time. He's especially drawn to books about transportation and animals.\r\n\r\nThanks to you, reading is not a chore or a goal on a checklist—it's something they look forward to. You've helped make reading a joyful, shared experience in our classroom, and the impact will last long beyond this school year.","fullyFundedDate":1735429350135,"projectUrl":"project/building-a-magical-pre-k-library-sparki/8802799/","projectTitle":"Building a Magical Pre-K Library: Sparking a Love for Reading!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Wang","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8690065_orig.jpg?crop=747,747,x35,y146&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1662768311402","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8690065"},{"teacherId":4328091,"projectId":8982817,"letterContent":"Here is an update on the project funded through DonorsChoose. For example, my students use new resources to practice cursive handwriting on a daily basis. The grease pencils allow the students to trace the provided letter models, then trace over the grease pencil tracing with a pencil. This tool provides additional support, enabling students to trace more accurately during practice. \r\nI haven't shared another item purchased with this grant with my students: the pocket writing board. I have not pulled this item out to share with them because I want the fun activity to keep them inspired as we prepare to end the 2024-2025 school year. After all, at the end of the year, gummies happen. The third item I shared was the slap bracelets, which were a big hit because they worked hard. \r\nLastly, when my students first saw the materials, they were overjoyed and surprised that donors from all over the place had treated them. The smiles on their faces were priceless, and it's a memory I will never forget. \r\nMy wish is for my students to read to their little pocket dogs during the summer, just as the main character reads to the shelter dogs in Madeline Finn and the Library Dog. \r\nI hope you enjoyed this little peek into our classroom.
