If a child does not know what sound \"oi\" spells, then I will introduce that to them. We will practice reading, spelling, and writing sentences with the words like \"coin\" and \"join\". Afterwards, we will read a decodable books specifically with words that have the \"oi\" spelling pattern in them. These books take my lessons from boring practice to engaging, meaningful reading. I'm so thankful to have these resources to use with all of the students I work with. \r\nThe students who love these books the most so far are my second grade students. We read the same book all week long for the phonics practice and to help with their fluency. The following week, they take it home in their homework folders to read each night to their parents. They get really excited to know what their new book is each Monday. They are also really proud of themselves at the end of the week, and ready to take it home to read to their parents.
