Our team participates in FIRST Robotics Competitions. The key components of that program require students to fund their program, to run the team like a business, and to build a robot to achieve specific tasks while adhering to set guidelines. Additionally, FIRST Robotics adheres to core values including \"Gracious Professionalism\", which encompasses this philosophy: \"the idea that a way of doing things that encourages high quality work, emphasizes the value of others, and respects individuals and the community\".\r\n\r\nThe members of our team were so excited to receive the items from our DonorsChoose project, which included: a new laptop computer, speakers, a mouse, and a case to carry the laptop to events and competitions. The students had real-world experiences as they set up the new laptop and prepared to use it to complete projects. The technology materials received are vital to our ability to achieve the required tasks within our team. Additionally, students are using technology to obtain skills that will positively impact their education, their future careers, and their everyday lives. \r\nWhile we utilize computers and technology to build and operate our robot, we also use technology for the business division of our team. The business management group communicates with community members, looks for sponsorships, grants, and fundraising opportunities to help fund our program, and creates marketing materials to share with our community. As a result, this contributes to the sustainability of our team. \r\n\r\nOur program would not be possible without the support and generosity of our community. The gift that we have received from our DonorsChoose project has improved our ability to: produce business and marketing materials presentations, make designs for future robotics building projects, and create outreach events within our community.
